For indoor venues and large stadiums seems a good idea to me but some are against it something to do with rights and discrimination, what do you think ?
It's the thin end of the wedge or it's sensible, or both. Take your pick. I've just been invited to have it. Not sure as I never ever get flu or anything else TBH and never had a flu vaccine. I can see the day, said it before, when you won't get to use camp site facilities without flashing your vaccine certificate and that could be the last straw for me. I wouldn't feel very happy if the only reason I was taking a vaccine was to be allowed in the toilet block on a camp site once or twice a year.
Why not, why should a small minority create problems for the majority. Can't believe the " Covid is a hoax" lot...they remind me of a certain ex-presidents followers. I'm sure something could be sorted for anyone who couldn't have the jab for a proper medical reason.
** wrong end of stick on that quote so deleted ** I Doubt its going to happen to much if and buts.... Ow and upsetting people.
I appreciate that people will make their own decisions, but all decisions have consequences and it's a matter of weighing up the pros and cons. I, like @zedders have never taken up the option of a flu jab....I'm relatively fit and only used to have cold when I worked in an office..... but the Coronavirus jab, I was actually excited to be getting mine... and I hate needles/faint at the sight of blood.
I'm in 2 minds. On one hand I'm a hermit, on the other I like to be able to use camp site bogs. It really is that black and white for me. My Fav camp site didn't even open their facilities all last year so if this year pans out the same I won't be going camping anyway. I don't need a vaccination to sit on my boat reading a book, the crew does the shopping, internet provides everything else. Having said all that I have nowt against it in principle!
I think that it should be a certificate or negative test result you can get tested now with a lateral flow test and have the results in 20mins so if you get to a concert or what ever if you have a vaccine cert straight in if not test and wait 20/30 mins for the result then let in if clear protects everyone that way. Also these people who just want to rage against the machine will soon get fed up with having to wait and having swabs shoved down and up they will amazingly charge there mind.
I'm sure it's a good thing to do but I, like others here, don't really get colds and flu and didn't have a flu shot. I'll have the jab, though ihate needles and they do seem to stick it 6inches into your arm! But to enable me to travel, use camp sites and get a job. ( I can see you needing proof for these things)
I think that until on-the-spot tests are more accurate, a vaccine certificate similar to a credit card, that confirms with a central database that you are up to date may be needed. Its also important for that to be internationally accepted - like passport biometric data, the ID on the certificate can be electronically confirmed with the NHS. Basically its a national ID card. We are living in a new world where the freedom of the 1960s led eventually to HIV and the ignorance of the 2020s led to a COVID pandemic. The goal posts of freedom may have permanently changed.
So your plan is for everyone else to have it (if they want it) get on with their lives and your going to live the life of a recluse with no human contact then.
We've lost two family members to Covid. I've had the vaccine, one of my daughters has had the vaccine and my wife has just had it too. Should it be a choice... well yes, it should however those who wont engage (who are the same people invariably that wont wear masks) can stay at home and have stuff delivered to safe place (for ever) as far as I'm concerned. Covid isn't going away any time soon. The return to normality is dependent in a significant measure to its success and it appears many in society are incapable of taking on board the seriousness of the situation we find ourselves in. It isn't flu @zedders now is it!
We’ve got tickets for Twinwood in August and they’ve been having a discussion about how people would feel about making it ‘vaccinated only’ I understand the freedom of choice arguments, but I know I’d feel safer if everyone was vaccinated. I’ve seen that you can’t book a Saga cruise without being vaccinated
That`s my thinking , they`ll be on ebay within the hour . When the first lockdown kicked off and it was essential workers ONLY driving to work you could buy an `essential worker` used binman kit for a couple of hundred quid - forging a letter would be easy and off you went ... I`m booked in for the jab and if they want to give me a passport i don`t mind , if you`ve nothing to hide etc etc.. We`ve all got a photo driving license which is the back door equivelent of photo ID , i don`t agree with it but what can anyone do about it ?? 1984 is here to stay .
I was listening to someone the other day saying how easy it is to buy a negative COVID certificate to get on a flight.
Twinwoods may be going ahead but would you be happy to dance the night away in tent with a thousand other people - vaccinated or not ?? I won`t be going as it`ll be a shadow of the spectacle it was and i think the dancing will be very regulated , if allowed at all . I can see it being just be everyone sat around in fancy dress wishing the hadn`t bothered
