Children of the 70s - man have they f-----d up our heads?

    I mean Jim never really wanted to fix it it did he - he just wanted to f it , Those rock n roll greats were all fecked up sex maniacs of the most debauched manner.

    I loved Bowie and Mark Bolan - Sweet , the Rubbettes, Sailor, Elton John etc - who would have thought?

    Dave Lee Travis - the Hairy cornflake - what a legend, now I wonder what the hairy cornflake really was, Oh and how the girls swooned - I dreamed of being the hairy cornflake.

    Me mates down the youth centre use to put Ziggy Stardust make up on their faces and prance around in silver sprayed jump suits - in hindsight - not a good look, still we were young and impressionable.

    The cars with all those fantastic Lucas electrics and su carbs - leyland allegro's were soo cool
    "NO THEY WERE NOT" -on reflection!

    Oh how our elders let us down - those days promised so much - and what have I reeped from it - nowt, not one hour of debauched anything , not a single spangly jumpsuit to my name, no shiny platform shoes nothing.

    I haven't even been offered cocaine and gay sex since I was 12 ( unless you count a offer from Birdy which i don't cos he's a tart!) No the hedonistic promises of the 70's have been a complete let down.

    Worst of it is - I couldn't be bothered even if the chance of a white bib and brace suit came along now!

    ;)

    Ps I never really liked the Rubettes:)

    I was a child of the 70's and my parents drove aircooled VW's - look what happened to me!! ;)

    It is a shame that some aspects of the period we took to be OK are turning out to be as far from OK as it's possible to be - however I think that we're more likely to be affected by the horrendous fashions and decor we lived in - especially in flash back mode when we see photos etc.

    I think your reminiscences of the 70s are a bit odd, PT.

    I never once wore platforms or listened to Sweet. Flares and Little Feat, yes.

    PS I did once meet DLT, purely by accident. He gave me the creeps.

    Mine was a subconscious thing and seems to have only affected me in the last 4 years. I now have a VW, wear canvas pumps, am learning to play mellow songs on a guitar and have started listening to 70s music !

    What happened ? :eek:

    same here born in the 70's oh my parents were dreadful , being dragged to Glastonbury , made to listen to rock oh how I curse them ,.............I hope my children do not have to suffer the same ...................:D..............ooppss
