Hi all, could anyone give my a little advice (in simple terms) on the best brand and size of Battery for my van please. We have a 1977 2ltr type 4 engine. cheers Lee ....sorry, forgot to mention that we have replaced the 1600 engine with the 2ltr and there was not a battery in the van when we got it......thats another story......so no idea of what is required?
I'll check... pretty sure an 096 will fit in, nice big battery As for brand, Bosch silver top is one of the best... After that you're looking at Gel pack batteries, but you're looking at a minimum of £150 for one battery..
Oh, I also forgot to say that check euro car parts, as they seem to be pretty reasonable on prices for batteries!!
so Bosch are pretty good then...as far as battery is concerned. as per amp, is a 55/ 60 / 70 big enough?
I have a 60 odd amp ,looks a bit like a truck battery nicked it out of a crashed hyundia diesel ,need it to crank the JCB sometimes.. Think big.... 8)
I went for a halfords jobbie HB010, which ever one rated for the type 25 engine? I had to go small in footprint because my battery is not in the engine bay. It just fits where I have it. Does the job hot or cold on a type 4 1800. Cost £96.
I just went into GSF and said - I have a 73 T2 and they gave me what I needed - its pretty small but does the job
bosch batteries.......dont chuck a bigger battery init than it needs.....get the correct 063 type as snotty says
bosch s5 063 from halfords is 96.99 from Halfords, find someone with a trade card and it will be at least 20 quid cheaper. or a halfords own may have even more discount.
