Basic Electric Hook Up advice

Morning. Yes. probably a bit harsh your right. So apologies for that. I was a bit out of order so hugs and kisses from me!

It does happen every time there is one of these threads though, that someone who "knows better" hijacks it for an argument about the competent advice being given. Guess I was a bit harsh but when people give advice based on good sound knowledge, years of training and study and experience to people genuinely asking for some competent advice and when that is responded to and then challenged it lessens the impact of the advice given. I accept that you rebels out there like to live on the edge and will take risks based on your own knowledge of the subject and indeed that your knowledge is, to you, more important then that is fine for you (sort of) but no one come on and asks for some ******* poor advice from people who probably have little or no experience.

And yes... I can be a knobber from time to time. Cant we all. Its about knowing when you've been a knob and stopping digging a bigger hole sometimes.

  2. and what I meant to add was. by all means break the rules if you wish but do it from a position of knowledge and not ignorance. (not aimed at any individual for clarity).

  3. I don't know better, promise but keen to understand.

if you look just to the front of the wheel tub on the floor you should find a hole or a grommit, I fixed my earth with a bolt in that..

  7. You have strange arguments.

  8. Blimey dicky. What have we told you about drinking antifreeze? You promised this wouldn't happen again after the incident with nun and the donkey.

We need to talk about dicky.

Sound electrical advise though as always.

I didn't start this thread to get people at each others throats! That's what General Discussion is for :D. For the record I have camped many times with the mobile hook up, I think I even saw a thread once where someone took the mobile hook up and fashioned it into a permanent fixture in their bus, perhaps on here, perhaps on JK, perhaps I dreamed it after too much cheese for supper. Anyway, I value the opinions of the sparkies on here and now I'm off out to the bus to finish the job of putting a dedicated, made for that purpose, hook up in dear hearts. Mwah! Xxx

  11. Apologies Jack, honestly wasn't my intention. Just tried to raise the other options. Good luck with the install! X

  12. The nun is ok but the donkey was so traumatised we had to retire him to the sanctuary! I do see him from time to time for old times sake. As for the nun, well she's now a he and running as a UKIP candidate in the forthcoming election representing Oswaldtwistle and Clitheroe West constituency!

  14. TLB threads are very much like YouTube. Start off learning about electrics and end up watching a cat taking a Marmite in a toilet. Ah good times.

My point being a main live to earth fault (the most common) on your lead (with safety measures thrown in) is no better than a normal extension lead so why not save even more and just use a normal lead.

For me any mains electricity installation should be first safe (this includes if a fault accurs) and work second. Any advice i give has to be in line with the current regs especially given the high risk that a camper is

You of course can do what you like but just remember its not just you its those around you that could be affected.

  19. Cool. I fully trust you know a lot more about it then me. Peace and love

  20. I think some of confusion with this comes from those of us uninitiated with electrickery and cannot see how the body of a van can become "live".
