Thanks, I'm seriously tempted, good to hear the gap dripping (pet hate as it drips inside the bus) can be sorted. :)

  3. We've camped in some pretty wet conditions and I can't remember being concerned about water ingress from the gap...my mate's mod is just a strip of 3 mm thick rubber about 40mm wide stuck from the awning case and resting on the side of the van.

  4. Mine starts from behind the gutter and does not touch the van ,so no drips ,I also have sides and a front ,I did put them up when I first got the van...

It is quite when driving the van...

I wouldn't bother with the sides but winding out the awning shouldn't be too taxing?

  7. Perhaps a few of us Devon owners should combine forces to source/design a suitable bracket for attaching one of these bad boys to our vans weird roofs?

I know someone who could make us the brackets if someone can come up with exact spec or he may be able to come up with something if he had a fiamma wind out to hand. My problem is i'm too skint at the moment to buy one!

I know the local VW TPS area manager (trade parts service) so I could enquire if they can get them any cheaper

You can get brackets that aren't far out - £75 is best I've seen but not looked hard.

  9. £75 for brackets?

Which bracket type do us Devon pop top owners need then

Every bay is the same. The awning must be above door level. The brackets hang on the gutter, screw to B post and at the back and also have a tab up onto the roof which will also need at least one hole drilling.

Maybe no holes if you look at the one I pictured while you were replying.
Maybe @The Bobdogs can tell us. :)

  14. i'm hoping @The Bobdogs takes a couple of lovely close up photos of his brackets and the gutter, so i can look at it in relation to the devon roof.

No hurry though as this isn't going to happen for me for a while

The 1.9m one, apparently, doesn't need legs.

  17. Hi Guys...apologies for the lack of pics...been a hell of a week, complicated by a severe dose of man flu! Will take some shots in the morning and post them up.
The good news is that you don't have to drill anywhere! My 3m awning sits on two brackets that fasten to the gutter and then rest on the body below. I have the lower ends of my brackets wrapped in tape to stop them possibly marking the paintwork. So can be removed at a later date and leave no trace of it ever being there.
    Until tomorrow....
