Did you see @lhu1281 's hubs in his 914 resto? thought you'd be busy licking them Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
If you can find some (they are around), Hella do nice toggle switchs with a rubbery paddle, for that authentic 70s look. Worth making a loom-ette for your gauges IMO, wired through a multi-way connector. Then you can just unplug the lot if you take the dash out. You'll get tired of undoing 4,000 connections ;-)...
Just investigated the switch - it appears I've got one already Radio wire added to diagram - well, in biro so far.
I've just picked up a couple of these from a breakers from a golf so we can have fuses before it gets too far down the vans..and handy feed for leisure battery and hot start relays down the back end.. don't worry I'll stick em on your plan with pritt Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Decided to replace the battery (+ve) lead that goes to the starter. What size should I get. Is 25mm (170A) enough or should I get 35mm (240A)?
I think that's the standard too Iain. I just wondered if there's any real benefit to getting the larger one.
..and is it a 6mm or 8mm stud on the starter it fixes to ?(currently 60miles from either van .. not just being lazy and not looking in the rain) Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Stock is 25mm2. There's little point in going larger. PS Buy yourself a cheap Chinese hydraulic crimper, if you haven't got one, plus some biiig crimps. Makes making batt cables and the like very easy.
That's the one I got Needs a bit of practice to get the right inserts and crimp shape, but works pretty well. Worth getting a selection of the tubular crimps - they're about thruppence each.
Just to add to your wiring woes BTW ...did you include any alarm wiring? Worth running a few cables for switches on the rear hatch and engine lid...
No alarm planned at the mo but did run a couple of spare wires in the loom from front to back. Got an assorted box on the way
