I have a Huco regulator on mine and it works perfectly. What voltage do you have at the battery with the engine off?

Voltage with engine off was 12.7. Something was going wrong when the alternator kicked in. Just taken it all off, all connections looked good, cables looked good. Not blaming the Huco had one on and then fitted a new one, voltage increased more with the new one?

  4. Try disconnecting your split charge stuff and measure again.

Not always, paid top price for fuel gauge reg, turned out to be £ 5 Chinese copy. Just got my money refunded today.

Okay, I’ll revise what I wrote. None of them will be as good as an original.

Yes, repaired my old reg and it's working fine, unlike the £ 30 (£5) copy.

  10. The Huco alt regs should be fine as, as far as I’m aware, they’re German made.

The fuel gauge regs are a laugh - I bought one recently at full whack. They are cheap Chinese jobs that you could likely get for under a fiver. They’ll work, but how the usual suspects have the nerve to charge £30 for them is beyond me. £30 is pukka VDO prices. Good job you sent it back - I may do the same (after I’ve put it back together ;)).

My old regs connector had snapped so I ended up soldering a new connector on and it works fine. Your right about the charging bit, skins like rhino springs to mind.

  12. Well worth patching the old ones up. The vibrator type is actually quite robust for what it has to do. Only downside is that it’ll likely make your dash lights throb ...
