what factories are you saying u.s busses are built in malc? mine was built in germany i'll have to check which place. edit mines from hannover.
as said most have had stuff done steering wheel spokes are smaller dash grey interior light switch on dash as pic , mines got front clip and cali front doors n rust n stuff but the paperwork engine m plate stickers n other stuff tallys. The writing on the washer wiper stalk is that on lhd only ??
As I said earlier mine was built dec 73 destined to be a 74 model but is different to a later 74' I am loving this as said before this should be documented to help others, @Barneyrubble my lhd has the writing on Steve,
My van was built late 73 and has grey clocks. small spoked steering wheel. early steering box . wash and wipe stalk early dash, door lock in sliding door no engine cover. coat hanger engine lid support what's that mean mine is a ?
I'm not Rick. I thought they were all made in Germany for the us market. I know the chicken tax thing changed things in 71 but not much else. I could research it!
No I think you misunderstood. The October 73 van I described would be in line with what was introduced in the 1974 model year - deletion of petrol flap and lock no longer in the handle (late bay sliding door, in other words).
i was pointing out that with 2 factories building them it's possible different styles for different factories? it's only a guess though, no idea if they ran simultaneously or emden was 1st then hanover?
i'm noting hanover for "true" lates purely as my march 78 is from there and joker did say his 72 was emden.
Loudoo's bus is a 74, registered 75, it's got no petrol flap and has the lock in the side door as per normal but it's got the same steering wheel and indicator housing as my early 73 and your late 72 Malc
Wasn't '73 the last year of the filler flap anyway? So a oct '73 van should have a fuel cap instead? I'm always wary of features like doors because they're so easy to change. If that van had a bump at a time when RHD sliders were easily available from a scrappy, a late door could easily have been used. Edit. Just noticed your later post
