My marantz CD player, Cambridge Audio amp and Mission speakers are in boxes in the attic. My other half wants me to get rid of them...
Ha ha ha, far too old to still be partying the next morning, but we did keep going til 3am! Not bad for an old fart (Just packed up the venue now, and then going for chips on the beach )
[QUOTE="scrooge95, post: 1529623, member: 10415". Might be southern slang, but did no one else snigger with @paulcalf “my nads were also 2nd hand” ?? C’mon!!![/QUOTE] My 2nd hand Nads was deliberate entertainment
Hifi simplicity, Naim atom and core (plus a Qb in the kitchen) with a rega planar 2 deck and BW CM1 speakers (looking at replacing with KEF R3s)
Saw this turntable listed in what hi-fi awards 18k Who the F has 18k for a turntable Surely can't be that much better than the normal Linn lp12? Great name though www.whathifi.com/linn/klimax-lp12/review
That is ridiculous - for audiophools only. The types who pay a couple of hundred quid for an "oxygen-free"...mains cable.
My mates dad used to use normal electrical cable for speaker wire back in the day and told us all it was just as good as the expensive stuff. I don't know how he went from that to having a separate electricity supply for his hifi and then onto building a sunken room in his garden!
They're all slightly nuts. I had a friend who built speakers out of concrete sewer pipes, as they had plenty of mass. Sounded ok, actually.
Oh, and they have one special chair in the middle of the living room, exactly the right distance from each speaker...
known as the 'golden triangle' apparently i had decent separates and speakers because i had a lot of audio geek and sound engineer friends. i knew the stuff they were getting rid of would be brilliant and perfect for my untrained ears but they would move furniture so that the speakers were exactly how and where they should be for optimum doofery wotsits when they came over i didnt start messing about with the lighting when i went to their parties!
I love a good eccentric, I also love winding them up next time you see your mate just say 'un plug all other electrical equipment in the house before listening to music - it will really clean the sound up' or other such nonsense
Bern I think those speakers would look amazing without the covers on. I considered doing in on my linn keildh's for about 10 years before finally doing it. No one has poked the cones which was my worry
always made me snigger! one actually said to me that 'listening to bad music was like an assault on his ears', so tempted to wrap a baseball bat swiftly round his head so he had a comparison
Id like a proper separate DAB unit - I currently just plug a portable dab into my hifi Do you rate yours? I'll keep my eyes open for a second hand one
that is completely true, my mates dad demonstrated his amazing set up and hifi room by playing the spice girls!
