Are you missing some kind of bush inside? Can't remember what mine looked like. Yours are sticking out too much.

 

Aren't there meant to be nuts or something inside you can adjust, if not you can add spacers behind the panel.

 

If the Haynes manual is correct, I've got everything that should be there, but need to adjust the stop/collar on the shaft bearing.

 

What did you do ...just hit everything or did you find the problem .

 

Literally just took it to peices and put it back together, maybe the drive shaft was a bit stuck from lack of use and it freed it off!

 

Cleaning and freeing off is generally the best way.
I've been doing my sliding Door recently.
Couldn't believe how easy it was to remove never done it before in over 25 years of ownership!!
