  5. Refited the wiper linkage.

Anyone know how far the threaded part should stick through the body?

Mine seems too far as the cover sits on the nut, not over it. Unless the repro cover isn't the correct length.

I think the official nut is thinner than the standard M8 or whatever it is.

  7. ^this. Have you got a standard width nut on there?

Came home and welded up the broken U bolt bit on the slider mechanism.

Two attempts at welding and a lot of filing and at least the door springs open at the back now so the pink door opener string is retired.

Its a pity its slightly crooked now so its as bad as before it broke, the back edge of the door drops as it pings open.

New ones are £15 ish from VWH. One is on order.

Open a box from vw heritage with new drivers door rubber, a length of fuel pipe, couple of rubber 'grommets' for the heat hose through the tinware.
Went to the garage with it to show the bus.

  16. Odd. And the plastic cover doesn’t push down right over it?

  18. It just buts up against the circlip which holds the wiper shaft.

Either too much what the Haynes manual calls the shaft bearing showing or the cover is to short/ or should sit further down.

You have too much sticking out of the panel.

You might find a bit inside that needs winding out before doing the outside one.
