  1. Walked through a cobweb strung between the door mirror and house wall giving me a face full of dead flies and an angry spider.

    Chucked loads of stuff in it to maybe take it to work tomorrow, en-route to Techenders.

    The gods of VW ownership are expressing their will...

    Probably have more luck in the spring

  10. Just moved him from under the trees, as it's blowing a gale here. Sat inside listening to the rain on the roof. Very soothing...

    Mustering up the will power to go out and see how much he’s leaked in all the wind and rain last night, in advance of packing up for techenders (can’t leave til after the gas man has been round to service the boiler). Sliding door seal fitting tomorrow with luck (and TLB volunteer TE help )

    Edit:
    Gas man has now been (for what it was worth, they don't do much these days!);
    Clem didn't leak last night (woo hoo!);
    now just to pack him with tools and food and beer and get on me way so that I don't arrive under the cover of darkness, go straight to the bar, and then fit stuff in the rain with a hangover like last year!!
    Happy Days.

    Took a wire wheel to it. It’s amazing what undersill covers up.

    Just got to work out how to fix it now.

  15. Did a bit of spraying with me Autopaints aerosols. Me taking the cap off was the signal for every flying insect in Hampshire to converge on my garage :(

    Seeing as the radiator split on my car last night which I managed to get Home stopping a few times to add water and cool it down, last night I took him to the petrol station to fill him for a week of commuting, then parked him ready for an early start.
    Got in at a cold 07.30, click.... click... click.... no turnover. Bah! Jump leads out, patch up the leisure battery, click... click... damn, maybe that solenoid with the cracked top finally packed up. Rocked it in gear, went to put him back into neutral, clutch pedal drops to floor and doesn’t return.
    Now I have a broken car hemmed in by a broken bus.
    Impromptu day off.
    Crawl underneath and remember that cracked solenoid head probably won’t take any attempt to remove the connections since that’s what cracked it last time. Can’t be arsed with the clutch cable as I don’t have a car to go get spares with, need bus gone so that when I fit the replacement radiator being delivered on Wednesday I can get the car out.
    Don’t much fancy jacking it up and working underneath only to break something else that I can’t go and get, and don’t fancy changing a solenoid/starter anyway, and as he probably needs wheel bearings pressing in and maybe ball joints too I decide the best option is this:
    [IMG]

    So that’s what I did, sent him off to think about what he’s done.
    Maybe a bit impulsive and a soft option but one broken vehicle is enough for me to be dealing with without another immobilised one in the way.
