  1. 22mpg, not that great really, i would expect 25 plus out of a carb

  2. Removed nearside rear window to trim back homemade cabinet that was touching the window - easier than removing the cabinet ;)
Whole host of niggly little problems sorted out ....
Serviced , oil changed and ready for an adventure :D

  5. I had one of my carbs apart, initially to replace the shaft seals, but noticed the top cover was loose. That would explain the whole carb being wet!
A bit of fettling, a new gasket and shaft seals and it's petrol tight again.
Also fitted a new tailgate seal. :)

  6. Got it through another MOT (yesterday). 3 advisories - 1 tyre low on tread, slight corrosion on front brake pipe and a wheel bearing a little loose.

Today I started to rattle-can spray the rear heater vents to the same colour as the bed panel so I can vent through the hot air from the engine in the back.

  7. Prepped the hydraulic tappets for refitting to the 2.0l engine, moved onto the barrels and pistons - then snapped a ring!!

  9. Replaced delaminating ply with new and Prototyping an overhead locker for over my kitchen. Viking usually has a bed here but i took mine out ages ago as it was just used as a shelf when camping. Can use this as a shelf and its a cupboard too.....or will be. Its just a badly made box just now. Actually should create a lot of room. Bit boxy and not awfully clever but cost nowt. Will see how it goes!

Ripped off the pas wing mirror getting the van out of the garage and it's running a bit hot too lol

  11. Spent most my weekend laying a new laminate floor and fitting a new Vanwerks rock & roll bed, just got to fit kick board and cutout holes for speakers and PCM in it and then wire up.
    IMG_2925.JPG

Floor wasn’t as bad as I thought it might be, mainly light surface rust which I wire brushed off and gave the whole floor a couple of coats of Zinc 182.

Pretty pleased with my new floor.

It beats the usual 19 mpg.
According to the gauges it is running quite lean on cruise at 65mph on the flat, maybe a bit rich under load.
It is partly the way I tend to drive it which is foot hard down up to 4200 rpm in 3rd/ 4th then back off, and about 4900 in first and second.

  13. Looks really nice - what laminate is that? It looks like mine, but I can't remember what mine was called...

Banged my head against the wall.

Gusbus' repro alternator has sticky brushes, just what we need! I do have a plan, whip Majors alternator off, pop it on Gusbus. Refurbish a spare Bosch one which Ive yet to get around to doing & pop it on Major when its sorted.

    Sorted..we hope!
