  1. that a yank dash or did you paint it in textured paint. I like that!

The horn stopped working on the Bank Holiday weekend and the culprit was found
    [IMG]

So after new wire was fitted it works again

However having never worked on the horn before I removed the front belly pan thinking I had to but that resulted in me finding some broken parts and realised the gear selector rod bushing had collapsed.

So where is best to purchase a complete refurb kit for the selector rod. I have looked at VW Heritage but thought I would ask here first in case someone has experience on the matter.

From what I've read, none of the repro front bushes are any good.
    Someone must know otherwise!

  7. Don't want to be a wet blanket, but with no strain relief on that cable, it'll break again in no time, especially with solder wicked up the wire.

I don't think there's any kit better than any other, probably all get them from the same factory!
Your rubber steering coupler is showing signs of cracking up by the way :(

Bought a 45mm socket from Halfords for the rear hub but on the T25, rattle gun nothing, 2ft breaker bar with scaffold pole on broke the breaker bar! Even with some heat on the nut.
Halfords replaced the 3 year old breaker bar no quibble
    So resorted to cutting disc

Note how skilfully I avoided damaging the threads on the hub , quick tap with hammer and chisel and off it popped!

  11. I can remember learning how to burn old nuts off and getting it just so you start to see the thread under the nut......

  14. Today I bit the bullet and put the new roof canvas on.

It was an absolute pig of a job, but it's done. Finally!

Picked up bus from Miguel at Chulos Bugs in Staffs.
Did a great job for me changed the manifold inlet rubbers as the originals were split badly.

I recommend him...nice chap who builds beautiful engines.

  20. Dumped my oil after 500 miles. No shimmery stuff any more, and no wormy bits in the strainer, and not a hint of an oil leak anywhere. Well done, Mr Parry. Quick refit of an oil hose and tappets tomorrow.

Took a front door card off as prep for sticking the central locking in. A JK MDF job: after 5 years, the bottom had rotted and all the clips pulled out. Why, why, why do I buy this stuff?

Seems Mad Matz do proper oiled hardboard ones: anyone used these?
