That does look tidy but you've opened yourself to lots of leaks, maybe none, but get it checked by a professional just to make sure (unless of course you are a pro... )

  2. Stuck a CSP return spring on my carb linkage, faffed with cable and pedal endstop. Used a bit of EMPI kit

I now have a nice firm pedal that opens the carbs fully, and lets them drop back nicely to idle.

The number of joins is always a concern, but I couldn't see any other way of doing it without ripping the whole interior out to get to the back of the oven and the fridge. All the joints are proper compression ones with olives and Hawk White jointing paste (suitable for gas), and any PTFE tape was the proper gas stuff. I've checked all the joins for leaks with soapy water (no bubbles) but I'll get a mate who is a plumber to look at it with a more professional eye.

Then watched it drive away with Eldest Unmarried at the wheel with her 3 mates, all ready to go camping at the National Folk Festival. :(

  6. Your as nuts as me lol
Are you soaking it in thinners and rubbing it off?
    Your doing a great job

  7. Not thinners , too harsh and smelly , using UPVC cleaner its brill, not too expensive and smelly. 85% of the van is og paint so trying to return it, labour of love I'm afraid

    That's what they are for.
I've been showing my youngest for years and she knows that a malfunction with an idle jet solenoid causes misfire on deceleration.
Banging on she knows that you have to torque the wheel nuts to 136 newtons or whatever I'm sure she'll know..or else
Also when bleeding the brakes that you start from the rear right to the front right and make sure that you drain the sludge out of the bottom nipples on the front calipers...

Put bus through MOT after nearly 18 months of standing, gathering serious moss. Wish I'd taken a before shot - the roof was completely green. Nevertheless she just needed a patch on the battery tray, a bulb and the washer bottle pumped up. Just shows how robust these old vans are:thumbsup:

EDIT: yes I am very embarrassed leaving her sat for so long. Life events took over:(

    This week I have;
Un-seized the front offside brake caliper and replaced the seals in it. Cleaned the caliper up too...... decided that the lower bleed nipple was better off left alone.

Changed the front nearside wheel bearing and decided to use the old bearing race as the tool to knock in the new one after taking a small piece out of the old race so it prises out without causing damage (remember to wear protective eye wear when hitting hardened metal with hardened metal...ie a hammer on a bearing). Worked a treat

Also fitted the mudflaps and brackets as supplied by lhu1281 but have had to fit them infront of the front jacking point as I have alloy steps on the bus and due to having new rear arches being fitted by a previous owner and the inner wings not being fully original (and different engine bar hanging brackets) I had to modify the rear brackets. A local garage let me use their facilities.

in my rush to get it done I didn't realise the mudflaps aren't level so the nearside one will be 'adjusted' soon.

It probably needs somebody with a bubble tester (gas flows through liquid.. With all taps off you shouldnt be seeing bubbles appearing..) to really check for leaks.
Simple physics but not official unless in the hands of somebody who us being paid money so they are able to afford insurance to cover the contingency of missing the leak..
