Your first and last gigs.

  1. Paice, Ashton and Lord at Glasgow Apollo in 1977. Anderson, Rabin and Wakeman at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago.

  3. Were Paice, Ashton & Lord as good as they seem to be?
    I can't seem to prise Malice in Wonderland from my turntable this last couple of weeks.

  6. I really enjoyed the gig, but never got around to buying the lp! Tony Ashton (RIP) was a great frontman.
     
  7. First was Frankie Valley and the four seasons at the California Ballroom Dunstable and the last was The Jive aces at Newark showground

    Countless in the years between . Even seen Uriah Heep !! Yes they were aptly named ;)

  9. Pace was a great drummer and Lord probably the best keyboard player ever .
     
  10. First big gig I can recall was U2 at Milton Keynes Bowl supported by Spear of Destiny, Billy Bragg, The Cult, REM and The Ramones.
    Last gig was about 6 weeks ago, The Christians at the Roadmender in Northampton.

There seems to be a 'Sight and Sound in Concert' on the YouTubes of them playing 'Malice in Wonderland' in full bar one track, sadly on my tellybox it's a bit laggy, so I've not seen it all the way through yet. Tony Ashton looks to be a right card, his WIKI page makes for a right interesting read, particularly his disappointment when Resurrection Shuffle became a hit. I saw Ian Paice & Jon Lord together, astonishingly with Roger Glover and a couple of blokes with guitars performing in a very short lived incarnation of the Whitesnakes. Lord was clearly the leader of the band and for me, the focal point of the entire night.
    I'm off to listen to 'Remember the Good Times'.

  12. Roger Glover lived just round the corner from my parents, I used to wash his car for him , a dark blue DB5 , he was a really nice guy .

  15. Was Ringo there? I remember he was in hospital when the band set off for Australia. My sister managed to get in a photo of the band at Karachi airport.

  19. Yes he was, I wasn't there as A) it was in Australia and B) I wasn't born for another 18 months but according to my Big Book of Beatles Facts he rejoined the tour in Melbourne.
