LHD and RHD German buses are the same, Australian RHD are different.

My wipers were slow and rubbish until I effectively bypassed the switch . The motor is quite torquey if fed directly off one of those 99 relays .

Dont be surprised if even the new motor is a bit slow.

  8. A new motor is not slow, and works fine, fast or slow.

The only 2 speeds I've got are on and off.

  10. You should get someone to fix that...

Reading this thread, as it's Australia, the wiper motor is different....or I would have been sticking a new motor on.

  12. Eh? You're in Rotherham!

Only difference on Aussie ones as far as I'm aware is that the sweep pattern for the wipers is correct for RHD. UK busses were lumbered with the LHD version.

To be fair, my wipers are the same as UK busses, despite me seeing it arrive from Aus and the fact I've never touched the wiper motor.

  14. Odd. Does your driver's side give you a semicircle of dirt to look through, or do they sweep right up to the right?

I have the dirty right hand top corner and you may be able to see on my Avatar that the wipers are standard UK set up.

  16. Odd. I thought as the Aussies built them in Oz, they had the chance to make the wipers sweep correctly.

From my experience all the wiper motor electric connections need to be very clean to ensure it gets the full current. Rotate the fuses a bit as well.
The spindles need to be free running and almost floppy when servicing the linkage.
I wouldn't expect a new motor to last very long if the linkage and wiring had not been sorted.

  18. Most folk's spindles haven't been lubed for 20 years. That's why the cog in the motor strips, I'd imagine.

The switch in my bus is definitely the reason it still ran slow after cleaning up and re lubricating the motor. I bypassed the switch with the relay and has a lot more torque- it couldnt wipe a dry screen, bypassed the switch and it now starts well.
Hence my comment why replacing the motor may not be the whole answer ..

Just because "it works for me" , doesnt mean that you have solved 100% of the problem.

I will get one of the new motors because my plastic cog is disintegrating round the shaft though.
I expect the fast speed will begin working better then.
