i had a windscreen fitter do my front and rear as i used the metal ones not the plastic filler - looks nice but yes crap job - gotta do my sides though - my rubbers were shot on the sides as well but i got given 2 standard side ones - they will do for a year or so.

  5. Managed to sort most of the dash issues last night except for the fuel gauge which is a mystery - I know that late bays suffer from faulty fuel gauges, and I have put power to the gauge, earthed it etc and definitely doesn't work, but what about the sender..... I couldn't lay my hands on a multimeter last night so couldn't test it, but I think it's likely that's ok. The earth wire to it has got warm, so I may change it anyway - I left the cover off the tank until this was sorted..

Sorted out the vac pipe, headlight issue and sorted the accelerator cable - Winnie is now driveable!

This is the new headlining starting to go in - still need to make the sides but the front one is made. Will fit this when I get the roof back - we are going to fit the roof and canvas on Monday....

So this is Winnie approx 1 hour ago. She is ready for her MOT now - that's being done in the morning at 10.15.... I'm confident she'll be ok, I think :)

Jobs to do to finish her.

    Registration
    Refit interior and wire up.
    Fit pop top and canvas
    Fit leisure battery.
    Wheels need painting
    Underseal and wax treat underneath
    Fit the chrome window trims
    Cut and polish paintwork
    Fix fuel gauge

I'm sure there's more, but I'm too tired to remember. Today has been a long hard slog. The wipers and washers have taken some work to get sorted, not least because this is a Champagne van and has intermittent wipe... Once I had worked out the relay had disappeared it was then a case of working out how to bypass it... Lots if head-scratching until I discovered the relay in the glovebox - plugged in and hey presto the wipers now park and work as normal - no intermittent function though :(

So I'm nearly there.... Still seems an impossible task though.

Tremendous result, and still a short turnaround by most of the buses on here. :)

  18. Well done, this is awesome!!

  19. Just been to DVLA in Oxford, and have been informed that I have no hope of receiving the registration number by the weekend... The system has just been changed since last week, and the local office no longer processes the applications. The particular lady who informed me of this was clearly in the "I couldn't give a toss" mood anyway, saying that DVLA had taken away most of their work...... Including their jobs...

So, sod it, I am still coming but with trade plates!

Or, you should be able to insure the bus on the chassis number, but trade plates is probably easier.
