I was watching and thought 'shoot, do I do that?' Especially when you go foraging in the hedge behind the van. You give it new life. Nice work.

hey martin, was chatting to the guys at whin hill cider in wells about you the other day, shame i missed it when you went there!

What a place. best night of the whole tour. They came for dinner in the van and brought a crate of cider with them. Then everyone went back to their hotels and homes and left me in the orchard, with a fire, music, a beautiful starry night and a crate of cider. I finished the lot. They also left me a night vision camera so I made my own Ellen Macarthur meets Blair Witch film. If it ever gets out I'm in trouble.

The series is available on itunes and is available on DVD in Oz (?). I really don't know why there's no second series. The first did really well. 1.95m viewers watched the last episode (according to the figures) which means more peole watched it than watched the simpsons that week. It's actually more peole than watched most stuff in that slot since. So go figure. I am conviced it's because big names get the gigs. Since it was on we've had Rick in a camper, jamie's been back in a camper and now I see Ade Edmonson is about to go round the Uk cooking out of a teardrop trailer. Again, go figure. Then again we've got big plans for a family trip next summer so, you know, not complaining. It won't stop me enjoying my van.

I preferred your show to 'Baking made easy'.

TV, Music, Film, Radio - they are all cut throat industries and you should be happy with having a series at all (which I am sure you are) - for every show that gets aired 100+ dont!

You can always do some web episodes and keep it going yourself on your blog.

And we could film a 'Dorey Goes Wild' episode in which you can swear, curse and do everything the Beeb would not let you

I preferred your show to 'Baking made easy'.

TV, Music, Film, Radio - they are all cut throat industries and you should be happy with having a series at all (which I am sure you are) - for every show that gets aired 100+ dont!

You can always do some web episodes and keep it going yourself on your blog.

And we could film a 'Dorey Goes Wild' episode in which you can swear, curse and do everything the Beeb would not let you

You seem like a balanced undeluded chap, so I'm sure you won't mind me saying it's pretty obvious you never really cooked before you made the progs, you're a pretty clumsy presenter and you bought the camper specially to make the films, so how did you get the gig in the first place?

Tee hee. Yeah is suppose there's an element of truth in all of that. As you know I am a writer not a chef (although I can cook) or TV presenter and yes, I did get the van because of the Beeb - they wanted a classic and I refused to do it in a rented van. They wouldn't let me do it in my T25.

Of course I wouldn't want anyone to think that I'm moaning about any of it. I had a ball making the show and it's been amazing for book sales. However, lots of people have said they enjoyed it becasue of all those things. It ain't slick and it ain't polished and anyone could do it. It's unpretentious. As for going wild with Wiseman? My people (me) are in 'talks' with his people (him) about it so watch this space. I have some choice expletives lined up.
