Where did you take your driving test ?

You mean to say you need a licence to drive these old buses

 

No I worked at another Dairy
But Unigate had their own Examiners
And was tested there In Bedford cf
I remember Examiner saying stop at the next lamppost please !
I stopped and he just Stared at me I was puzzled until he said That is a Telegraph pole
I still passed though

 

Me I did it 1965 in a driving school Triumph Herald in Oxford. About three weeks later I was involved in a 3 car shunt in my own car which was a 1938 Morris 8.

 

I failed my bike test for going too fast

 

Wow, you lot, suddenly I feel like the youngster here! January 1988, Kettering, passed first time aged 17 in an Austin Metro 1.0L.

Should've done my bike test in Berko, like all my schoolmates. Such an unbelievable faff these days.

 

Final year of sixth form at school it was decreed that everybody who wanted to ride their bike at school would have to pass their cycling proficiency test. My mate Noddy Hurst had already got a car licence so was pretty *******ed when he failed.

 

I did my bike test in St Albans. It was more simple in those days, with the examiner sending you round in circles and stepping into the road for the emergency stop.

So crazy stupid to get a licence these days. I have been eyeing up a Royal Enfield on the interweb, to make my mid-life crisis complete...

Harehills in Leeds , bike test on an XL185 (registered as a 125 ) . As others have said , couple of laps around the block and an emergency stop . Popped a wheelie or two as I knew he couldn't see me and passed in May 1980 .
Car test - failed 1st time . The instructor and car weren't available when I got a cancellation so I borrowed mi mum's Datsun having never driven it before but couldn't find reverse on the 3 point turn and rolled into the kerb - ah well .
Took it again 3 weeks later and passed in june '83 , I wasn't too bothered about having a car , much preferred riding my bikes but thought I better get it done ...

I wish I had taken my bike test back then
I’ve done the theory bit that expires next September . this Covid thing has put a bit of a crimp in it for me

 

You have to take a test, since when ??

 

...and you don't need a bloke with a red flag walking in front of the car any more!
