What No EU Thread

  1. That's because we are only half way there, look at the evidence. Ask me again in 50 years assuming the EU still exists.

We most likely had a shared organized religion at some point before the Romans. Stonehenge, people from all over the British Isles congregated there. The Romans are given too much credit.

    edit..missed the 'Stonehenge'.

  2. What will happen if we leave the EU? Can someone tell me the pros and cons so I can make my mind up please. Some kind of totally independent unbiased review that will weigh everything up and say this will happen, this won't happen and the probability of this or that happening is. Then I can make a reasoned judgement if I want to be in or out. An in or out party telling their side of the story is no good to me.

    Why has this not happened?

  4. The exploiters of the working class care not a jot whether they were born in England, Romania or anywhere else for that matter...aiming your arrows at the EU is missing the real target IMO

Rome and the citizens of the Roman empire

  5. because no one actually knows...it's pure speculation...we may as well ask that octopus who predicted the world cup results....all the blather we read about is nothing more than rhetoric and conjecture from all sides

  7. Er... yeah, I picked a few that I thought might be nice places to live (without being too controversial). I think there's quite a big British expat community in Bulgaria too now you come to mention it, it's supposed to be great, cheap red wine, cheap houses etc...

  8. I think you mean immigrant

  9. well we arnt exactly skipping to the bank right now really , propped up by low bank rates and over inflated property prices , failing NHS ,pension funds, you name it.government robbing everything they can to keep it looking ok ?? Can or will we be able to afford not too ??

  10. Yeah sorry

  11. moreover, the incumbent governments of each nation are hamstrung by their domestic standing in the polls...so we're subjected to 'wind management'...and as you know, we aint that good at predicting the weather

  12. A refugee and an economic migrant are two different situations. If I were born in Syria though, I would be in the army or supporting my family in a neighbouring country. Perhaps a very large and prosperous Saudi Arabia or Turkey either side of me. I would be in a refugee camp with water and food, keep my family safe and return to rebuild my country. Why were there very few women travelling through Europe in those TV pictures? Why only young fit and healthy men on those boats?

  13. that must be quite upsetting when you're sipping your Ouzo;)

  18. Bit like their views on many many things ... out of date in a civilised world ... anyway I'm going to end this avenue as this is the one the pro europeans try to lead you down so they can play the racist card against you. And whilst immigration undoubtedly plays a part in all of this it isn't the only major issue.

  19. I think we can't begin to imagine how bad life is for the ordinary people living in Syria, it has all gone bad for them and they are desperate to get out. The politics and religion of the Middle Eastern countries is complicated and not many of those countries appear to be welcoming the Syrians. European countries and us in the U.K. have a reputation for being welcoming and helping others in distress.

So they want to come here. The numbers have overwhelmed the EU countries and while they invited them in to start with, they underestimated how many would come and now they are putting up barriers.

We face being flooded with people who have nothing and need everything and they come from a different culture, religion and language and all these things would impact our country.

To add to all this misery, there is the EU political mess which has to change as its clearly draining us and Cameron is trying to bring about changes which we need. The EU in my view has turned sour and the powers there are desperate to maintain the status quo as it suits them and their pockets.

Cameron has made an effort but has learned the EU countries are against us as in the Eurovision Song Contest, they don't like us, so they don't vote for us regardless.

Its time to take stock of our position. I don't think Cameron should pretend he has had a victory, he should be honest and tell us what happened, he went there and tried to discuss issues for change and the buggers didn't want to know. So he came back empty handed.

It now seems you can't negotiate with the EU, they have become too powerful and arrogant.
