What decent meals have you cooked while camping ?

  1.
  2. Does yours not have lots of holes in and a plastic handle ?

  3. Mine definitely has holes and a handle, may be talking about the skottel tops or whatever they’re called. Also known as the thing that all food burns on and welds to

  4. Nope, it has 2 small plastic handles but they've never melted at all and there's no holes in it. I can't put up a pic of it as our daughter has taken it away with her for the weekend.

  5. Ah we have a Carri Chef 2, I think yo have the Safari chef.....

  9. Yep ours is the Safari Chef, I found a pic online. The lid is bowl shaped with a flat top and can be flipped over to form a pan.[IMG]

  18. Thank you! It's just the two of us so the Safari Chef looks perfect and I love that it has an option to buy a pizza stone!

  19. The Safari Chef is plenty big enough for 2 though I have done a full English for 4 on it. The only downside compared to the one Mick has is the fact that it's lower so you have to sit down in a chair while cooking. When we went away with my sister in law who is a professional chef she was appalled at the fact I was sitting down to cook:D

I cook everything in my current van which has an opening skylight in the pop top roof. - but no kippers!

It's not fun hunched up in a tin top. I thought it would be better if I built my cooker in lower down but I ended up standing outside to cook.

Tintops are really cool if you're young and bendy or you don't camp, or you camp with an awning every time, but mine got to me because I'm not an awning fan (too much hard work) and I'm old and not bendy and I like to be able to stand up.
After 5 buses, this is my setup now - wind out awning - it takes me literally 5 minutes to make / break camp. Perfect for me.
