  1. What nice meals have you cooked while camping ? I did a roast on the Cadac on our recent trip, my plan was to do a full chicken but its a struggle getting Calor gas here at the moment so settled for breast, Spuds came out well though :)

  8. Good effort on the roast though @3901mick ! I’ll be giving that a go myself, how long did it take on the cadac?

  9. Probably about the same as an oven 1 1/2 hrs, I bought the small stainless pan before for a tenner to fit in the Cadac, instead of the £56 for the Cadac roasting pan, I put it on the pan rack, then moved it on to the normal BBQ tray as I thought they were doing too quick, then changed my mind and put back on the pan rack, What seemed too hot was probably close to oven temps.

    Spuds look great @3901mick :):food:

Cooking on the stove in the van itself, I've done risotto, curries and wraps pizzas. My latest fave is homemade flat breads and shushuksa (basically a lightly spiced chunky tomato sauce) and an egg on top.

Used a washing machine drum firepit the few weeks on the Wight, homemade veggie burgers, kebabs and homemade pizzas :food:

Mussels, from the rocks at Newquay Beach, taken back to the van, frying pan, garlic butter and a saucepan of fusilli, with a sachet or two of tomato from Fleet services.
Washed down with red wine from the Spar.

Would be rude not to share some food photos. IMG_20210817_194023.jpg IMG-20210815-WA0006.jpg

  13. I tried to make coq-au-vin, but forgot the vin. I just had the coq in the end.

Pretty basic stuff when I’m camping alone, but when Lou’s there it gets good. She cooks Italian pasta’s and all manner of nice dishes, but I drop my standards to a a bacon, sausage and egg brekkie when I’m alone.

My only gripe with the type 1 engine was that it didn't really lend itself to doing the "fish-n-stuff-in-foil-on-the-engine-while-driving-to-your-lunch-destination" ........
