WE may have done but I was listening to a news article earlier and apparently it’s split the Tory party and is the route of all this upheaval within the party atm. I remember talking to my Tory MP’s local helper ( yes I have Tory friends) and she said then the damage would be long lasting.

Sadly it was always going to divide people and they really should have given it a lot more thought before going to the country with it. Personally I’m content to accept the decision and have but it has undeniably left a huge divide between some people. The fact a lot of what they promised hasn’t been fulfilled also fuels discontent. This lot need to go to the polls ASAP because never in a month of Sunday’s are they capable of sorting this mess out.

Handy excuse I’m afraid. Granted they got on the case sharpish but it’s become a bit of a weak excuse, and this energy hike because of the Ukraine is wearing thin when it’s analysed. They should have stepped down after two terms like they all should as this dragging on into the third term is always a path to self destruction imo.

BTW I’m not expecting an incoming government to sort it immediately but it definitely needs a new approach with fresh ideas and the Tories need to sort themselves out, perhaps a few years on the opposition benches might give them chance to reflect and regroup?

I think you’ve at least got to try the experiment 3 times to eliminate false readings and get a reasonable average…. Scientifically speaking of course.

  8. I didn’t use any naughty words. I used one word that I was very careful to blank out.

  10. My tuppenceworth , and I'll say it again , is whoever takes the Conservative party reins will win a general election because there's no viable opposition as has been proven numerous time recently. It's not a leadership battle as such , more of a popularity vote and Coco Johnson seems very popular with the great unwashed who like a clown running our once glorious country.
What a state we're in , laughing stock of the world doesn't come close .

Perhaps the reality is that, like all empires, we've had our glorious years but now have to take our place in the new world order.

  13. A while ago, someone posted in one of the political threads, that Liz Truss winning the premiership, was just a plan to bring Boris back after she had made a hash of it. Seems that person was correct. But I can’t find the post

  14. I know he’s a narcissist, and is probably relishing all the attention again but I can’t help thinking he’s just chucked his hat into the ring for sheer devilment. There’s absolutely not a cat in hells chance that he’s coming back as PM. Firstly they have a 71 seat majority. A good number of MPs have said they will resign the whip and sit it out as independents if he becomes leader again. That could leave him with an almost unworkable majority. Making him a completely lame duck PM and unable to actually get any legislation through. Secondly it would fracture the party perhaps beyond repair. Let’s face it dozens of his own cabinet resigned because of his behaviour. Thirdly the Standards Committee are almost certainly going to find him guilty of misleading the house. Even if he genuinely believes he didn’t (which is highly unlikely). So when they find him guilty in a few weeks, misleading the house is a resigning matter, un survivable, so he could actually be kicked out for a second time. I see absolutely no way back for him for years. If he even managed to keep his seat at the next election. Let’s face it. It’s gonna be Sunak. The MPs all wanted him first time round. Hunt has pretty much just implemented Sunaks policies. Boris is just gonna enjoy a bit of the limelight again for a week.

If he’s got a shread of decency left he’d step aside, allow his supports to get behind Mordant.

  15. I’m fully aware that I just referred to Boris Johnson and decency in the same sentence.

We had lunch with my dad today and he made the point that BoJo is a decoy… he’ll be the one to take votes from PM4PM and then that should rule her out leaving Sunak as the only credible (of such a thing exists) option

Remember when I said Rayner will get sacked as PM for getting hammered at a G7. Just saying. Remember this thread in about five years.
