I would say that the time spent could have been better used. The money for his defence that he had access to should not have been tax payers money. It seems that his risk , at maximum , is a suspension of 10 + days ( possibly triggering a recall ). I wonder what charge Joe Public would need to face to access legal aid assistance of £2k. So the time and money could have been better spent. But no if this is our only way to root out bad apples in our government ( and it seems it is ) then we must back it.
