I am particularly impressed by this on the Highways website; "Road users in the North West, North East, Midlands, and Eastern regions of England are advised to check the weather forecast and road conditions before they travel today as strong winds are forecast in the North West, North East, Midlands and Eastern regions of England associated with Storm Doris. As a result of these strong winds, Highways England has issued a Severe Weather Alert for high-sided vehicles, caravans, motorbikes and other vulnerable vehicles, which are advised to take extra care when travelling due to the increased risk of vehicles being blown over". The only thing that's blown down around here is a gantry over the M1, Lanes closed in both directions whilst they clear it and its debris from the carriageway - sodding mayhem for miles.
We live at the top of a steep track which the bin lorry can't get up. The previous owner was an old widow who couldn't manage a wheelie bin up and down the track so the council put her on bin bags. The nearest road access is on the other side of the railway so the dustman has to lug our bin bags through two kissing gates across the railway to get the rubbish away!
Terrible. In the old days you could ask your local beat Bobby for a hand with stuff like that. Not any more it seems
