Weather reporting

  1. embarassing! Its snowing in scotland in february, its windy on blackpool seafront.... its february!

When did inclement weather start to be portrayed as a major national emergency and worthy of sending reporters out across the nation to report on the disaster. Of course, its a storm and some places will be worse than others and there will be some damage, some disruption and possibly some injuries or possibly deaths for the unfortunate but its not new, its news but hardly worthy of the attention its getting!

  3. Sunny here. I thought this was one of those threads where we had to give our current weather status. Never believe the papers its all lies ... or Trump or Brexit or Goalkeepers eating pies.

It's just the media being embarrassingly over dramatic as per usual ....they haven't quite left school yet i don't think .

  6. I think your not far wrong to be honest. Ever since he, and the Met office/BBC got caught out and criticised over the '87 storm the media have jumped on any slightly inclement weather and over reported it so no one can say they weren't warned.
And also when did a bit of bad weather become a "weather event"?!! Surely its just weather:rolleyes:

  7. The media overreact to everything these days.
How about a couple of weeks ago when there was supposedly a shortage of veg from Spain, it was like 'Omg what are we going to do!!, we're all going to die!!'.
When I was young, you couldn't get salad veg in the winter yet I have somehow survived.
    It's pathetic....

As someone who is currently trying to deliver trees, it is a tad breezy. And it's making my job a bit 'interesting'. To say the least.

....come on, we're British, we love a good bit of weather to talk about!

  16. Agreed - it's wet and windy but is it really a 'weather bomb'? Does it deserve a name? As Chris says, it's February.

Are you one of those southern jessies? We have a brick permanently on the bin lid and both the bin and the lid are tied to the fence. However, today has been sunny and calm up here for a change. Enjoy your storm!

Ridge tile off at home landed on the trampoline !
Slate off at the workshop would have taken my head off if I'd been unlocking at the time, landed in between the golf and the pickup amazingly, too windy here to fix them for a while though
