£1billion more food bought than average in the last 2 weeks apparently. None of that ends up in a bin of course.
I have a 10 year old son who is massively into his cooking, goes to Saturday afternoon cooking club and during half term went to a cooking "kids Masterchef day" obsesses over cooking programmes and talks about his first Michelin star (not scoring a goal for some premier league football team) so we do a lot with flour our staple sailing cake is a tea loaf with rum, all sailors like rum, then we make white chocolate blondies and all sorts of goodies, the other month he wanted to raise some money for children in need so he did a cake sale on our drive, he did the baking we did the marketing and arm twisting, all sold out. We've had a bread maker for years saves eating bread full of Marmite preservatives etc, popped one out this evening. Unfortunately my wife made pizzas yesterday and we make our own bases she didn't notice she was using up the self raising flour so we are now very short of that. Hopefully we can find some soon other wise cakes are off the menu.
The hoarders won't use it. It'll just sit in the cupboard for months and then be chucked out as it's past its best before date.
I didn't buy the loo roll either (I have 2 x 4 packs already and I'm out using garage and service station supplies 5 days a week at the moment) but I was a bit surprised to see it there! Oh how my life has changed, when seeing bog roll on a supermarket shelf can send my excitement levels rocketing....
As always, best wishes to everyone. Woke up to read on another forum, one that's very small, maybe 30 regular users, 2 people already have relatives who have contracted this virus and have died in short order... 3 days from suspecting they had it in each case. They were both elderly.
