always always take your own meter readings when moving in or out of a house how do you know your not also paying the last occupiers electricity bill
Thankfully zed she takes her water from the carport water butts Ive been on the phone to yorkshire water and apparently there was a meter reading taken just before we moved in and one taken recently inbetween were estimates and they had underestimated so its been added on to this bill They gave me a vauge discription of where the meter is located but i cant find it despite looking for an hour It does seem however that i do owe that much however ive told them im not paying untill ive found the meter and checked it tallys with there reading and serial number and ive checked there isnt a leak or another user of the supply after the meter On the plus side ive managed to get my electric bill dropped to £60 a month and a £400 refund so that can pay the water bill and 6 months car tax which eases things up a bit Going to phone o2 and bt tommorow and see if i can make any savings there I so much love been on hold for ages and talking to people that just repeat what the computer says NOT!
Well done matey - I've just been going through the same sort of thing and got elec gas down from £150/month to £80 as they'd already grabbed so much of my cash! Not to mention a £1500 rebate for other thieving they'd done over the previous 10 years. Barstewards the lot of them.
When you do find the meter .check out the small dial to see if its going round with everything thing turned of there should be no movement .if it moves without water being used you have a leaky supply
The water company has been fitting meters in our street. They haven't done mine yet as the main feed, feeds both my house and next door. Not sure what they are going to do. It also said on the paperwork that i didn't have to opt in to the meter now but on change of occupancy it will be enforced.
