Water bill wtf

  1. That does seem a lot of money Para  Reckon that needs some further investigation.

We've just been notified that we will be forced to have a water meter within the next 6 months. At the moment we pay 200 quid ish a year for water supply. We are not on mains drainage so our foul waste is to a sewerage plant serving 20 or so houses and we pay separately about 120 quid for this a year for maintenance.

Hoping we are not going to see our bills jumping up with the meter.

  2. That must be so hard having to keep an eye on him all the time, and I thought my bit was hard work. Is there not some sort of tap lock you can use?

  3. we pay 46 quid a month on a meter and sewage included 2 adults and 2 kids bath / showers everyday and washing machine seems like it never stops , that,ll do me

  17. Shhhush, dont tell Para, but our bill is £18.30 per month.
We dont have a standing charge for drainage because we have a septic tank, and we dont pay to have that emptied because the drains from a council house run into our tank so the council empty it for free

  18. Cheers people it seems my suspicions were correct

The thing is i cant even find the water meter at this house and when i asked the landlord he just said errm its outside somewhere

I wasent able to give the water company a reading when we moved in and our last quater bill was an estimate and cost £70
This one claims its an actual meter reading and gives a meter serial number

Im going to do the online water calculator thing then phone the water company and see if they did an actual reading when we moved in or an estimate as you cant estimate what the meter might of been when we moved in
Then ill see if they can tell me actually where the meter is so i can check the serial number and reading myself

If i get no joy then they will have to swivel for the money and ill have to go and get help from cab for yet another thing

This house is crippling us as ive lost over £400 a month income and the council tax is £220 a month for a 3 bed house ffs
And the electric company are taking £100 a month of me which i swear is too much for our usage
Along with someone recently stealing my broadband connection resulting in £90 of over use charges and the general cost of everything going up we actually have more money going out than coming in and the car tax is due at the end of the month

I wish we were still living at the old place out in the country

You'll have real difficulty proving your usage if you didn't read the meter when you moved in...
