    You talking about Bob?

  5. Bob Quark?

  6. Billions of galaxies and an infinite universe - or are there multiverses?
Did you know that galaxies were known as "fuzzy stars" until Hubble discovered otherwise.

plenty programmes on the box about the subject - shows how irrelevent we are to the unverse

  8. Or absolutely unique, if we’re the only ones around, which may well be the case...

the've actually proved? that the building blocks to life are floating around on some asteroids and I suppose as there are the posibility to planets x10 to the power of 24 there could well be aliens but the fastness of space means we'll never meet

  10. Cthulu knows this ant

  11. Can’t be proven. But...absolutely no signs of “life” elsewhere so far...

Got to admit though we can only see as far as our garden to use it as a metaphor and not further

I think a lot is based on theoretical astrophysics

  14. We are made of elements, mostly oxygen and carbon which were created by supernovae along with most of the Periodic Table elements.

  15. True. I’d agree that statistically, it’s seems unlikely, but...no hard evidence so far.

The thought of us being possibly the only ones in our whole galaxy is...mind boggling...

  16. That’s equally mind boggling...

does beg the question though even if we are the only ones in the galaxy if there is one civilisation per galaxy that still a lot of aliens out there

  18. Plenty of galaxies...common as muck...

  19. I think part of the problem is that, given the age the universe is said to be, it's very unlikely that other civilisations would be transmitting during the same period that we are looking for them as they're only likely to be active for a very small proportion of that time.

  20. Could be. But the concept of “transmitting” is a very human one. But, yes, they may have been and gone (as we will one day). ‘Tis the nature of things.
