Tyres! Pricy but essential

  1. Today I'm going to place an order for 4 and I'm torn between Michelin Agillis or Uniroyal Rainmax 2.
'77 lhd westy 2lt stock height/wheels and I'll be buying stock size 185r14s
Does any one have any experience of either on their bus? I ask because there's a fair price difference.
I appreciate this is a minefield but that's why I'm asking all the internet searching has done my noggin in and I'm not just looking for the cheapest tyres I can get hold of.
I value the experience of true user reviews and strangely I've found my self here

I have Rainmax 2's on my bus and they are fine, think i paid about 60 per corner 2 years ago.

  3. Thanks for that I've got RM down to £62 mobile fit and MA £70 mobile fit. I'm torn as to wether the £36 extra is worth it

  4. I've had 185r14 Agilis for the last 18 months and found them fine

  5. Are they worth the extra Chad? Pop says the same for the RM2s I'm reading reviews that although not on our busses say the MAs are not very long lasting semi irrelevant as we typically don't do high mileage but I was wondering if there were any other characteristics that became apparent on our busses.
Obviously it's only opinion but that's all I've got to go on. Some people don't look twice at their tyres and will put any old crap on.

  6. I did a lot of research and came to the conclusion that they were - although I bought them 3 years ago so maybe there is something better now.

My view was that even at £30 each more than some of the other tyres I was looking at it only worked out at £1 per month extra over 5 years

  7. Why would you do this to me? Why? Why?

  8. Look on the bright side - there are a number of different tyres all being recommended by personal experience.

If you've done a load of research I'd just go by gut-feel/price on the basis that all are 'winners'

Ip dip dog Marmite you are not it.
    That's the RA18 out
So it's the RM and MA so.............
ip dip dog Marmite you are not it.

haha I'm pulling his leg. One mans meat etc etc;)

  13. Hah oops sorry. I always have a look and try and get the best happy medium between noise fuel and grip.

The hankook are recommended by most of the American bus owners.

  14. For the mileage we typically do the fuel efficiency is probably not much of a factor.
I'm liking the fact that the few of you that constantly offer me advice and recommendations seem to recognise the value of quality and value for money rather than just pure cost. Very reassuring.

  15. See I think that with our old canpers that every little helps so getting s tyre that is slighlty more fuel efficient all adds up

However what is the real work difference between B and C? Not sure but I bet there is a big difference between B and G!! Sorry @theBusmonkey

    Don't worry.
What we loose in fuel we make up in sunbeams.
