Those T25 set-ups are good, but if you've bust it an accuspark electronic SVDA distributor is a very fair £59.99 delivered on ebay.

  4. How can I break the hall sensor? I thought it was pretty fool proof

No idea, I tentatively tried to take one apart once but didn't get far - just far enough to see there was nothing to it and nothing really to break apart from a wire that doesn't have much space between the wizzy bits.

  6. Sorted once again, break in internal wire to hall sensor. Actually fired the beast up today after a few heart stopping moments. Sounds like an animal. Videeeeo to follow :):)

  7.

    Well done dude

  8. Cheers fella. Il put exhaust and gaskets etc on today and fire her up lovely and make a decent video (without my arse all over it ) and post it up. Time it in now....
Go by haynes / clymer manual or what settings / proceedure do you suggest?

I dont have manual for type 4 with electronic ignition and dvda dizzy

    Paul Weeding likes this.
  9. Time it as per normal 7.5°btdc at idle, and 28-32° fully advanced/2500rpm

  10. im sure i have read 5atdc on these with vac pipes installed? elec ign dvda dizzy? i dont have vanagon manual

  11. You time them with the vac pipe disconnected

And the 5° is for the dual vac dizzy, not the single vac, as the single should still be 7.5° connected at idle :)

    Freakytate and snotty like this.
  12. Mine is a dual vac dvda type? From original t25 electronic ignition. Got 5'atdc at roughly 850 ~ rpm but was a bit irratic at higher revs like 2500rpm seemed to go up to possibly 32btdc? Any way well pleased it running and sounds sweet as man. Dial kadrons in now and then make my tb's when get inlets and some cash. Il explain more when I get home im out at moment on phone. Cheers fella :):)

Ps j7st read your previous post so that seems quite good just need to get a steady 2.5k rpm to check it properly with both carbs working in harmony

Unless you have the retard part of the can plugged in, you should time as paul says. Your dual vac distributor is same as single vac but with the retard as an addition that you can and should ignore. Plug it up. :)

  14. where are you getting the retard vac from? if youve go aftermarket carbs they wont have the facility to connect this unless you know somthing i dont. I dont use the idle voltage stabilisation unit on mine , or the retard can on the dissy as ive got dells fitted. Mines timed at 7.5 btdc.

  15. if you have managed to connect the retard can and it works then you need to short out the plugs on the IVSU.

  16. i have tapped both my kadrons for advance vac and retard vac of what was balance pipe between the two inlets. i havent got balance pipe on but used one side as a retard vac but it was pulsating. i was going to tee from both inlets at bottom after carbs or is this totally wrong? i dont have stabiliser unit just plugs connected together

  17. I dont see the benfit of having the retard connected at all. Why bother!

The idle stabiliser, I believe, is to help it tickover with the timing so retarded as provided by your retard, as we say, ditch it and make sure you have the advance plugged into the right place on the carb, not a balance pipe or the manifold. You still have the advantage of a sturdy bosch electronic ignition SVDA distributor. I really have never come across anyone using retard in a bay, it's a smog thing for the trendy Yanks.

  19. Cant get my head around how youve attached the retard connection. Surely both cans are getting vacuum at the same time. Sorry if im misunderstanding but thats not right! Junk the retard (strangely enough thats what I said to the daughter about her boyfriend but she didnt listen!)

  20. dicky theres probably loads of things i know that you dont, just not appropriate to share on this forum or vw related haha
