Hard to remember, it was a while ago and I used to go to W H Smiths in Moseley with my mum and help choose singles, but the first one I actually bought properly out of my own money was Baggy Trousers by Madness Also, I don't remember too many singles having a proper cover, they usually were in a paper sleeve like above. I can remember helping mum buy Teenage Kicks and My Perfect Cousin (my mum's favourite Undertones tune) as they were from our home town of Derry.
First record was Madness "Grey Day" followed by Adam and the ants "Stand and Deliver" First Album was "Low" by Bowie, a bit out there for a young fella but there ya go.
