Listening to the First Music You Ever Bought, However Painful Day.

Do you remember the first music you ever bought? Maybe it was on a 45 rpm or LP record, or perhaps it was on a cassette or compact disc. Maybe it was even an MP3 download (pretty unlikely with our age demographic). Chances are that what you listen to now sounds quite a bit different from the first music you ever bought and that returning to that early music may bring back a lot of memories of your past, but also make you feel a little embarrassed. Today is dedicated to listening to the first music you ever bought and embracing all the feelings that it brings back.

I never bought singles, I always preferred a LP.
My first LP was Please Please Me by a Liverpool beat combo you may have heard of.

 

I still listen to the music I bought nearly 60 years ago without any embarrassment.

 

This was the first single I ever bought, not the first I ever owned, but the first I ever bought....

 

Pet Clarke was one of the headliners at Cropredy last year. She was on after Richard Thompson, who was, as ever, brilliant. Not really my cup of tea but she still had mighty good voice I’ll say that for her.

 

I can’t remember but can remember having to sing yellow submarine at ABC minors I think my elder sister put me off a lot of music

 

Vangelis Chariots of Fire. I must have worn the record out. Love those analogue sythesisers.

I then got into a bit of Prog Rock. Hence my motto: 'Confusion will be my Epitaph.' Any one recognise that lyric..?

mum took me to WH Smiths (I think) to buy me a record for my 4th birthday party at the weekend.

I chose this and still love it now!
