I believe Jimmy Page read War and Peace, then grew a full beard and handlebar moustache during one rendition.
Robert Plant used to nip back to Wolverhampton to have a cup of tea with his mum. Bonzo was still going when he got back...
Pretty certain it's an urban myth. It's generally and probably correctly attributed to Jasper Carrott!! https://www.beatlesbible.com/forum/john-lennon/ringo-isnt-even-the-best-drummer-in-the-band/
It's true that most bands consist of three musicians and a drummer, but there are some good 'uns. Let Bernard "Pretty" Purdie 'splain the legendary Purdy Shuffle to you (5:20)...
I remember going to see The Firm in the 80’s and Chris Slade did a good drum solo. Jimmy Page did a guitar solo in a pyramid of lasers. It was fab and far out
In fairness to Bonzo, I think Dazed N Confused is a bit of a yawnfest too. Self indulgent cobblers. Well, the guitar "solo" bit anyway....
drummers are the true giants in any band. keeping time and work the hardest. Marmite drummer = Marmite band fact
Yeah - it was John Lennon after Ringo was voted best drummer in an NME poll around 1965. It is a fact that Paul McCartney showed Ringo ( after he joined them from Rory Storm and the Hurricanes after Pete Best was kicked out) how he wanted the drums to sound on their first tracks together - so was Paul a better drummer than Ringo?? My favourite drummers - Ginger Baker and John Bonham
Was Woody Woodmansey on Record Breakers once for having the world's biggest kit or did I dream that? Likewise didn't Carl Palmer have a kit that turned upside down with him?
