Hug a Drummer Day is celebrated all around the world in order to pay tribute to and show appreciation for the drummers in bands. Because drummers sit at the very back of the stage during performances, it is often felt that they do not receive the recognition that they deserve and that they are unable to take their place in the spotlight with the rest of the band when they are on stage. On Hug a Drummer day a number of special concerts are held around the world. For once, it is the drummer’s turn to shine as they take centre stage. And of course, on this day the drummers will receive plenty of hugs and other tokens of appreciation from their fans. A large number of big drum manufacturers and percussionists have become involved with Hug a Drummer Day in recent years and the popularity of this annual event is rapidly increasing. I don't know about 'taking centre stage' - the early gigs that I went to always included a half hour drum solo. I think the rest of the band generally went and had had some recreation while it went on. Here's my favourite drummer:
How many drummers does it take to change a lightbulb? .......................... Who cares, everybody is looking at the guitarist.
A guitar player and a drummer were walking through a park one day. The guitar player said, "Hey look at that dog with one eye!" The drummer covers one eye and says, "Where?"
And finally, How can you tell if a drummer has been doing the crossword? ............ All the squares have been coloured in.
When asked about drummer jokes Nick Mason said "What do you throw a drowning guitarist?"......................... "His amp!"
Neil Peart - when jack black wanted his drummer to learn how to play better in school of rock, he gave him a Rush tape and told him to listen to Neil.
Don't know if this is a genuine quote or another myth. Paul McCartney said "Ringo isn't the best drummer in the world, in fact he isn't the best drummer in the Beatles "
I think it's true. I thought Lennon said it but I might be wrong. I think it was meant to be tongue in cheek Lennon humour. Ringo was a fantastic drummer
Good opportunity to nip out and get a newspaper and fags, tho’. It’ll still be going when you get back...
