It's a long way fer goo driving a an eight wheeler ur tarmac from Stanley to London .;)

  4. I think you are a bit confused. The justification in the first was an invasion of British territory by the Argentinian armed forces. In the second Blair lied about the existence of weapons of mass destruction to justify his crusade, of course as history has shown Blair was later found out to have made it all up.

  8. For me it's dead simple, if you want a peaceful, respectful and just society vote Labour.

  9. For me it's dead simple, if you want a wrecked economy, massive tax hike, uncontrolled immigration and a poor brexit deal vote labour.

  10. But which oil? o_O

  11. I think we need to remember how great it is that we live in a country where we can all voice our different opinions on politics to the each other, without fear of disappearing or getting hung from a lamppost. Particularly after the events in Manchester and in Kabul overnight. It's easy to get wound up about our election but maybe take a pause to think about how great this nation is, whether you vote red blue yellow green purple orange or L90d.

The economy has been wrecked by boom bust from greed of financial markets that were given a freerer reign by Thatcher. The current incumbents have put the country into more debt, yet slashed our public services and basic amenities.

The tax rises are for the richest/wealthiest out there.

You can't blame labour for Brexit and it's farcicle handling - Cameron didn't want it but let us vote on it then buggered off after his cronies gave false promises.

As for immigration? Uncontrolled? Just think was the Home Secretary in recent years that kept promising figures and never met them?

Time for a new colour at #10 my vote is is with Jeremy

    Land Tax anyone?

  15. well interestingly the size of your garden will affect your council tax under labour (I don't know that, did Boris make it up?)

It doesn't sound like its nailed on, but the proposals seem to mean that council tax bills will rocket?

  17. A Labour spokesman said: "This is desperate nonsense from the Tories. Labour has no such plans."

  18. it may also be "false news"

“We will initiate a review into reforming council tax and business rates and consider new options such as a land value tax, to ensure local government has sustainable funding for the long term.” (p86)

This is from a site that says its truly independent (which I doubt): http://evolvepolitics.com/right-wing-press-lying-labours-land-value-tax-heres-truth/

It depends on the value of your property, and the amount of properties you own.

The rate for people owning just one residential property would be set at around 0.85% of the value of the property. This would mean that someone owning a house worth £110,000 would pay just £935 per year in Land Value Tax – almost certainly a reduction on their current council tax bill.

The higher the value of your property, the higher your land value tax bill will be. But as long as you only own and reside in one property, you will only be required to pay the standard rate of 0.85%.

How many houses are worth less than £110k? To me, it sounds like the majority would have far higher bills compared to council tax?
