Read thread to end.... everyone descended to the same (childish) level and shared the same view.

We're either commies or in a dictatorship and neither May or Corbyn are the right choice :)

Surely by post #63 someone should have mentioned a very infamous right wing party?

One thing I did learn about the Labour Party over the weekend, they have a lot of IRA/ Sinn Fien supporters, amazingly now they are fighting an election for Labour ,they have all changed their views, which I'm sure will please the 1,800 people who lost their lives to the IRA, one positive that can come from a labour victory, a stop to the continuous loss of life to the IRA in Northern Ireland, 20 deaths since the " ceasefire " in 1996

  9. I just watched the debate/question session on catch-up, and I've made an informed decision. Jeremy Paxman is a nob.

  10. who are these IRA supporters. Do they have a club?

btw ive no idea about the numbers but googled this, relates to those killed between 69 and 2001 equating to 3532 lives! pretty sobering!:
Approximately 60% of the dead were killed by republicans, 30% by loyalists and 10% by British security forces.

  14. I think its the big three Corbyn, Abbot and McDonnell ... I think the club is called the shadow cabinet ... I don't know any more than what it says about them and their IRA sympathies than you can read in the press. I do know a few ex-services who have said that given his links Corbyn wouldn't get their votes as long as they live. I remember the requirement not to travel in uniform and searching under the car before driving places, oh and having to get extra extra extra special permissions to travel to a wedding in Northern Ireland.

  15. I sympathise with that view. but as I've said before we were fed propaganda for years and conditioned to hate the IRA. All the time our masters were brokering deals and manipulating the situation. I guess some were more open than others. I too recall the restrictions and checks. As for those who served in NI then it was a dirty conflict. I can understand the hatred by association.

It was talking that got us where we are now and although some of those deals and agreements stick in the throat it was for the greater good.

btw - mods- can we ban any further mention of the Honourable member for Hackney North and Stoke Newington please.

  16. forgot to mention. I didn't serve in NI but have a couple of friends who did serve at the height of the troubles. Both have stories to tell but both are Labour through and through!

  17. Was away over the weekend and just read your comments on the who are you voting for thread.

Did you have a mirror on wheels for doing the underside of the car, ours was a lovely black coloured thing that took up too much space in the boot.

Abbott, Abbott, Abbott .... a figure head for the titanic.

I never did either but had friends in the paras etc that did. I went to a mates wedding in Belfast and the night before we went out and watched the armoured vehicles rumbling down the streets, I was actually told I couldn't go but the bride's father was serving military, lived there (NI) and had friends in high places, needless to say it wasn't a rig wedding.

The whole election thing is getting to be a bit tiresome however many weeks on both sides spouting the same Marmite. Anyway the conservatives haven't put their board back up on the public land opposite my house so am happy.

  18. Since when in 2017 was the IRA a hot topic??? As said above the ceasefire was a long time ago. Also as Jezza said he sypathised with everyone caught up in the troubles not just the IRA. So not relevant in todays politics.
Mrs ST's brother (ex marine) took shrapnel in NI also a labour voter.

To a lot of people it'll be very relevant.

  20. You're right what is its relevance the fact that he showed sympathies towards those *****ers that wanted to bomb their way to achieve their aims. Its alright Abbott has changed her hair style since then ... didn't get to maths lessons though ...
