  1. No you started with "People who are too stupid to vote.... voted."

So....as stated before Brexit, and general elections....democracy needs s firm kink up the Arse as the 'choice' is anything but.

We should start a petition stating that ballot papers have a 'none of the above' box that actually counts as a vote. If none of the above indeed gains the majority then all parties should have 6 months to promote a change in candidates and manifestos that are drawn up as a legal contract in the next round.

As for Trump, what democracy allows Exec Orders that ignore the justice system and elected houses? That's a dictatorship.

The big question is what's the big distraction for, what's being hidden by the smoke and mirrors? Even that numpty knows a wall is ineffective with so many tunnels....so why the distraction?

  4. Sounds great ... but as someone who according to some remoaners is too stupid to vote ... who would govern the country in the case of 'none of the above' winning ... you do already have the choice of indicating none of the above by spoiling your paper.

  5. They say that the Trump and the Brexit victories were down to people feeling 'left behind' - not just stupid/ racist but it does seem to me that xenophobia played a major role in both 'victories'.

The rise of far right parties in Germany, France, Holland, across Europe pretty much bears witness to that sadly.

  7. Yes, sad especially because we have never needed to pull together as much as we do now.

There is something most definitely wrong with the way information is being departed to the voter. It seems to exploit xenophobia and is very scary.

  9. Perhaps that could be included in the plot of a comedy film? :)

  10. Too many echoes with 1930s Germany. Very scary.

Possibly, well, almost certainly I'd say, social media has contributed to that. Trump hates the press because they call him out, hence he by passes mainstream media and tweets instead. That's why we have phrases like "post truth" and "alternative facts". Better get used to it. It's not going away overnight. In the meantime here we have possibly the most ineffectual leader of the opposition I've ever seen. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

I remember falling asleep by the side of mine. It was Southern Italy 1984. It was so hot and no shade so, I decided to lie in the cool shade of my van and try to catch a little breeze, I woke up to see my wife and a Italian lady smiling at me while saying how unused to the heat the English are. She invited us to her house and we spent the night eating with the family and drinking good wine!

Good point, but I think the thing is Trump's vileness is more in the open, especially just now when he's not long been in office.

  16. It's the latest bandwagon to jump on, give them a couple of weeks and when they realise nobodys interested in what they think, they'll move on to the next subject.

You're right though people's outrage can be a bit selective at times.

I think in any vaguely free society, protesting stuff is very important. Whether it actually changes anything is open to debate.

  19. I agree. But I'd slightly change your statement to ".....Protesting important stuff is very important" !!!!

  20. I saw a c4 news clip earlier of some protesters , they literally didn't know what they were talking about. One guy didn't even know what year it is. A woman compared trump's presidency to Hitler. Idiots.
