  1. He was awful at the Queens Jubilee concert, pitchy and never really had the right key so I suppose they gave him a backing track to lead him in. Shame really.

  2. I've just woke up, so who lit it then?

  3. I absolutely loved it! Quirky and funny - blimming proud to be a Londoner tonight! :D

The cauldron and the fireworks were immense

  4. Steve Redgrave brought it in the stadium and gave it to a bunch of 7 kids, young atheletes nominated by previous olympic medal winners. All about inspiring the youth. The cauldron was rather spectacular but the gas bill will cost a bit!

Here, here - what a spectacle. Proud to be British and a Londoner. Now bring on the sport.......!

  5. what an amazing show .... really proud

  6. Awesome show, very proud to be British tonight.

    Fingers crossed for Cav tomorrow.

Have to say - Danny Boyle and his creative team and all those volunteers did an amazing show.

If they are banging knighthoods out, I'd nominate him.

That bit where the 'queen' lobbed herself out of the helicopter was quality - nice to see the VIP's having a laugh and looking like they enjoyed themselves for a change.

  13. Well, I take it back. Def perked up towards the end, and the cauldron thing was great - top marks :). I'm not sure anyone else in the world understood it, tho'

Could've done without Macca. You've written half the songs that defined an era - just retire, mate. Please.

  15. Glad there was a box to old London culture. I was banging on to mates months ago they should have a cockney knees up - Mary Poppins style. What did we get? Pearly Kings acnd Queens and Mary Poppins! :)

  16. I thought it was OK.....but a bit long but OK ;) :). I do wonder how many people in other countries would have understood it??

Mind you my idea for the opening ceremony would have been -

the lights come up.......all the athletes are already there.........Phil Harding walks in in his sweat stained hat knapping a flint.......a spark from the flint lights the flame and Phil says" God Arrrrrrrr.....it's open innit"

Sorted - Would have been a bit cheaper to stage

I do also think the it was right that the NHS should have been included in the ceremony - it is something unique that we should be proud of. But the event should also have included some Grim Reaper style figures stabbing the nurses in the back with his sythe..... to symbolise the current governments back handed ways they are trying to cut the service. And the TV cameras should have panned in to shown Cameron hanging his head in shame at the governments false promises to 'ring fence' the service form austerity measures. THAT would have given the world the TRUE picture.

Ooops.....I seem to have started ranting ;) .......time for a black coffee

  17. The Washington Post affectionately described it as "the world's biggest inside joke" !

  18. Honestly I was impressed, as I said yesterday they incorporated all the things I was ranting about.

Will the world understand half of it? Probably not

Was it what I expected for the Olympics opening? No

As a show it was great but I'm not sure it was right for the Olympics but don't ask me what would have been right.

I did get bored after the 'calm down', then the athletes march started and I gave up.

well i never saw a second of it, but i hear the bookies cleaned up on the lighting the flame thing.

  20. Ah! sorry t be a party pooper, but I don't think they actually lit the cauldron, Thinking of the mechanics of it , they suposedly light 7 shells, then all the others lit up, hOW? gas would have to come out of the 7, ok but then how did the others light? couldn't have gas pouring out of unlit shells, flames couldn't travel back down tube and light the others, KABOOM!, so I dought that they 'actually' lit any. having said that it was different.
