Have you noticed this week on the news one person a day is being stripped of - England footy captaincy/knighthood/bonus etc etc? Do you look a bit deeper and wonder why? could it just be coincidence? I'm frankly to old and bored to look into why it is this time, but you can be sure something embaressing is going on. The subtext seems to be the [glow=red,2,300]FACT[/glow] that the USA's economy is growing and ours isn't. The difference is they've borrowwd some more cash and ploughed it into the economy. We are meanwhile to be convinced that we're all in it together. Obviously it's better to make 60 million people suffer than admit your wrong, so to take your mind of it, we'll give one person a day who can afford it anyway, a good public kicking. They'll still be better off than us mind.

    Immigrant workers,
    Gypsies
    People with public sector pensions
people with public sector pay rises
I can't be bothered it's all so sad and obvious to an old git like me. Divide and conquer suckers.
Love everyone for what they are or you are being used my ant/sheep-like friends.

  4. In that article there is a comment that I think runs true.

It is something along the lines of:

The paper have used a worst case senecio family to highlight the problem and in doing so (wittingly) are creating an us and them attitude thus raising the hatred towards family's on benefits.

We as a country should be concentrating more on the government who are wasting millions on wars, international aid, immigration etc and not fighting amongst ourselves.

Hang on a sec gents - whilst I agree that we are up to some things we shouldn't be internationally - are we not allowed to question things closer to home?

I don't tend to attack people in a knee jerk manner - but I don't think its unreasonable to have articles in the press and digest them and form an opinion. This week we have had Fred the Shred on the front page and the RBS fella too.

Like most people I'm not an advocate of cutting people stone dead - however, I am appalled at a system that is seen as better to take from and not contribute to.

This isn't a personal thing against anyone here - as a taxpayer I'd like some equity - why should people have in effect have my standard of living, whilst sitting watching me go to work each morning?

The system needs fixing - to fix it needs momentum - and momentum to overcome the 'do-gooders' that have built it in the way it is over the years.

Equity and fair are easily lost in a class based society - I have no issue on that as its too big to fix in my lifetime, however, I would like the top end sorted too please.

Sorry Moons - I was off on one and ranting. :) :-[
That's kind of my point - there is no balanced view available - one extreme or the other sells papers best. No interest in reality, and we're as bad as the yanks for sucking up any info that blames someone else for our predicament.
We are not screwed because someone on benifits has made a life out of it. TBH what does it matter? There aren't enough jobs to go round, so better someone who wants to waste away their life sits on benifits than someone who wants to work. This isn't something new, peeps have been sat on benifits for decades.

Whenever the gov (whatever colour) has some embaressing announcement to make, you can bet that on breakfast radio.tv etc there will be some back-bencher opining that benifits should not be paid for more than 2 children etc - something for everyone to get cross about while they sneakily try and cover up what they're really doing. :)

Why is the lying toe-rag lying? Usually to distract.
