Need some input on this one please .

i have been wrestling with this for some time now and i think its time for others to help me decide :)

All my vans have had that kept on the road look , not tatty or ratted but not all shiny and new looking either , you know the one , comfy slippers , comfy armchair etc look , its been used but still looks usable , well thats how i like my vans to look , but --

Since i have put so much effort into restoring her something in the back of my mindtells me i should be giving her the full respray treatment - resale value ,shows , impressing people etc , but i like the just kept on the road look -- whats the general feeling - full respray or just use her and be happy with how she looks ?.

    How she looks now -

Not brill i know but i like it ???

  2. Have you got the patience/determination/dedication to keep a new spray job lookin shiny? If so, go for it 8)

  3. I'd love a nice shiney bus but think i'd cry the first time it got scratched or damaged. Yours looks 100% better than my westy at the moment though. :)

she solid enough now but would'nt stand upto a close inspection re paint job :-[

  5. That's why mine is being roller painted still looks good and is easily touched up plus I could change the colour for very little money plus I've not got the cash for a pro job :)

  7. Couple of grand for a decent re spray or more than that depends on if you want to prep it your self etc ,you get some rollers and go to town :) then bolt on some shiny stuff , job done

  8. Is there a real reason (other making her look prettier ;)) for a respray?

Do you know what's under the paint?

Are you having to respray because of major repairs?

Keep her the way she is, use her until 'the next time' the bodywork and major repairs need to be done :)

i can have a bottom half self prep respray for £150 if i want it ???

    M - i am only considering a respray for vanity really :)

  10. £150? oh go on, go for it!

  11. If you can get it for 150 and it's a good job crack on. I can get a cheap job on mine it spray it my self in a mates spray booth but I'm really took to rollers :)

  12. all of my vans have been scabby ,the ones I did finish to a good standard were like the proverbial hot potatoe and soon went....

It takes all kinds I am perfectly happy driving around in red oxide and rust.... O0

if your unhappy go for it...

  13. Your bus looks fine to me, go with your heart mate its only got to please 1 person, YOU. But £150 is dirt cheep for a blow over.

  14. It's shinier than mine. I say keep it ^-^

  15. I like it the way it is

  16. I think it looks well tidy :D, no rust bubbles rearing their head through your paintwork.

If you want a shinier finish, couldn't you ask a body work shop to 'mop' your paint work (I think that's the term). Basically buff up and polish your original paint. I got quoted £20 to go over my faded mk4 escort. So even if it was £50, that's still a lot cheaper than a lower respray.

    Worth a thought?

If you had simple got the bus up and running I'd say get out there and enjoy it but as you put so much into the bus in getting here I'd say you need to be rewarded with some shiny paint that will engulf afternoons of your life when you wash and wax :)

  18. mrs lowie wants me to sell diego when he s finished because she says he looks to nice for us to keep and we will only ruin him
i ve said i want to keep him and USE him and bring tony in and get him tidied up and then decide who suits best

  19. Roll with it how it is and make the most of it is and enjoy it.
