Looks great dude Make sure you have a way to keep an eye on the water pressure or temp of the coolant system
how much of the subaru ecu/diagnostics do they have to use? do you get limp home mode etc? do you get engine management lights and a socket to clear fault codes like on the car itself?
Thread resurrection. Soooooooooo, 8 years later.............. I decided that it was time to try and tidy up what has been a pretty awful cab, and which I have lived with for a very long time (well, 13 years?). I've taken the windscreen out because it is so scratched and covered in grinding sparks that I need to replace it anyway. And it gives me more room to work on all the other things that are wrong in my cab. I've taken out the dashboard, and got the dash top and front blasted. The dash front was OK, but the dash top has the usual rot in the edge that's closest to the screen. I don't think there was a major leak in my screen, but judging by the way this has had holes bodged, I think it had been leaking from a previous screen too (the screen has been in situ since 2008). This is the worst bit: I won't bore you with the rest of it because we've all seen old VW cheese-metal before. Currently trying to get someone to weld this up for me so I can paint the dash pieces for when they need to go back in the van.
The next job was something I've been planning for a long time (and was inspired by a much more professional version done by someone else previously). I had original US spec Hella branded indicators in the van. These have now completely disintegrated (that's 45 year old plastic for you) so I decided to make something to replace it, using the Hella units as a template: Installed in the van, like this: I'm going to be putting LEDs in the rear too (will show those when I've sorted it out) so will replace the indicator relay with an LED one. It will also retain my US-spec sidelights in the indictor look.
