If its stretchy carpet liner, it doesn't fray.

    but....

Matt mot’d Major yesterday after the completion of our project, one advisory a grumbly l/h front wheel bearing.

So with that said I collected him earlier and drove him home. What a different drive, hills came and went by with no effort, sat at 60mph most of the way, it was just a nice pace to settle into driving him.

I am pleased with it so far, got quite a bit to do but I will update the restore thread with what’s been done. :D

Collected her from the body shop, to say I'm over the moon is an understatement

Love the look of wonderment / bewilderment on the face of what I assume is the young apprentice to the right of the lift.

He's probably wondering what the fascination of these old buses is all about

I thought he was quietly wondering where the engine was but didn’t like to ask :)

  13. Forget all that malarkey...
Is that GT500 I see lurking in the background ??

Edit , or maybe an early 250 - barrels look a bit small ...

It looks a bit like an early GT250 (pre X7) and it does look nice! I didn't see it as I collected Major yesterday but would have liked to!

    Wasn't the Gt500 / Gt750's triples?

  15. I think you'll find the GT500 was a twin and the GT550 was a triple. I remember riding a mates once, it was Marmite round the corners.

It may be the KH500 I was thinking about then, they where triples

  17. Re-sited my mains inlet.

Contrary to what most others are doing, ie moving the inlet from the engine bay to the o/s floor between the rear jacking point and outrigger, I've done the opposite!

Now I've got the bus here at home with me in the garage, plugging into the mains with the o/s hard against the garage wall had become a right pain in the rear! I had to make myself an extended hookup adaptor lead which, every time I came home, had to remember to plug in to the inlet, then toss the lead and 13 amp plug under the van, hook it around the sliding door handle before finally backing the van into it's parking spot. I was then able to plug into the mains socket on the n/s wall adjacent to the sliding door. Pulling the van out was a reversal of the above, what a faff!

So that's why I've relocated to the engine bay. Just the final bit of wiring into the consumer unit to complete and life's going to get a whole lot easier. Obviously I'll need to be mindful not to trap the lead in the the engine lid but horses for courses...

  18. That`s where mines going when i get around to it , why grovel around in the mud or worry about rain soaking the plug and causing problems ...

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

Once you know where it is you just crouch down and plug it in... safe from the rain beneath ones wind out canopy, unlike round t' back. The cable from there to my consumer unit is about 4" long. I wouldn't dream of having a cable poking through a partly open engine lid - so untidy. :)
