    Ruddy things.
I've got a suspension clonk at the back, not noticed driving but if I sit in the driver seat and throw my weight about...clonk.

Hopefully a shock is falling apart because that would be easy.

Looks like it's the shocks. I don't think they were new 10 years ago when I restored the van so... I've ordered a pair anyway. One top bolt came undone, hopefully the other will too but I'll wait until I have them before I bother trying.

  4. May just be a loose buttock. Often happens with age.

Better than a wobbly rear wheel bearing :)

Could be TBH. We'll see. I should give the rear brakes a looking at so I'll have a check of everything while I'm changing the shocks. No doubt the rear cylinders will be leaking, even the ATE ones seem poor these days.

So, I think I have mentioned before, I have an amazing ability to turn a simple job into a disaster.

    Today’s example:
I was prepping for the MOT tomorrow and decided to fill up the windscreen washer fluid up. Filled the bottle and with my bicycle pump started pumping some air in. Washer fluid shot out of a hole in the bottle into my face. I jumped up and in the process managed to bang my head on the steering wheel and snap off the windscreen wiper arm from the steering column!

I sometimes feel like this is what it would be like if frank spencer did VW maintenance!
That’s what I did to my bay today!

  10. I’m sure we’ve all had moments like that I know I have
At least it’s a later stalk there easier to find.

  11. Yep. Go easy on that welded nut at the top (which is likely to un-weld itself after 40 years). Bit of a bum-clencher.

I give up..mot day tomorrow and the screen washer pump disintegrates and refuses to work and on closer look, the plastic gears have shredded due to it clogging up with some sort of grime.

    No MOT tomorrow :mad::mad:

Just tell them it's pneumatic and you forgot to pump it up. That's worked for me more than once. :D

 the lack of screenwasher bottle might give the game away..I have been washing it out as that too was full of black slime.

I reckon it got clogged as its been sat pretty much since last May with the screenwasher unused.

My MOT man said that it's not an failure if you can reach out with your arm through the door window with a bottle and wash the screen that way...he's a good guy who's mum had a T2

  20. Strange. My washer bottle has sat with fluid in since 2017 and it looks exactly the same.
Maybe, on closer inspection, I too will discover grime.
