  4. Brake fluid would be welcome ta! That slightly binding front on the MOT became a bit of a problem last week!!

    Phone in sick.
What could be better than Techenders?
    (Actually, don't answer that)

  13. Techenders always sounds like a great idea. I often find myself teaching folk how to work on their vans. Alas, it's too far from me to come and help

Could I suggest that (from experience) it'd be a great teaching tool if someone could bring along a bare long block to teach on. The last few times I've shown folk how to do valve clearances I've used a spare engine on the bench to explain what/how/why before letting them loose on an engine in situ.

If your teaching a group it would be much easier to demo. Once they get the idea and have had a 'feel' of what a proper gap is then they can try on a van. It's a bit of a confidence boost if they can do it a few times standing up before getting down and dirty :)

Like I said. I'd love to help out (and supply an engine) but....

To be fair though, its worked out ok without a demo engine for god knows how many years.

  16. There might be a demo engine there if it arrives in time as Eddie is getting one in for the weekend after us I think? Rick will correct me if I am wrong :)

  17. Fair enough....just a suggestion :)

The demo engine could be a knackered one with end float measured in cm!

A nice idea, but I vote it's not me going camping with a spare engine in the back. ;)
I might bring a distributor though. :) I'd bring a head, but I don't have a loose one knocking about.

I've got a cracked head but its got no rocker gear in it.

  20. From what he was saying it was one that had been built up and mounted on a stand with a motor on the back so you could see how everything worked when you was adjusting things, but i don't know it was a type 1 or 4 lump?
