    I'll bring a head then!

  7. I have enough T4 bits around. I could slap them all together for a demo engine if people think its worth it?

If Ed has his wonder machine we're sorted.

  9. That sounds intriguing. Dare I ask what it is?

  15. Well had some good work done on my breaks and gears by Zed, but on inspection of my engine it was clear to see
that some tin wear is missing. So I will be looking at dropping the engine and stripping it down to see what
problems it has. So any help with dropping the engine and stripping down and replacing any engine parts
will be great. I don't have any tools or any parts because I don't know what I need yet. I will be coming Friday morning to take the engine out ready to see what's what and to order parts on the day or for the sat. It may turn out to be to big of a job and will need to put engine back in and leave it as is. So yes I will be there with my bro.

  16. I definitely want to come and it sounds exactly like something I would enjoy and need, but it will depend totally on whether Wiggie is equally willing and able! (he's currently still on bed rest...)

Edited to add - If I come I'll be interested in soaking up as much knowledge and local liquor as possible, although sadly probably have little to offer in terms of wisdom in return...

I would say I'm competent at doing basic servicing like oil changes, etc, but what I would love to have is:
    1. expert eyes telling me what bits of tinware Wiggie is missing, and
    2. assistance with exactly what kind of fittings I need for my poptop so it stays popped without the assistance of a couple of pieces of wood...

If anyone wants to have a stab at identifying this beforehand (once Wiggie is reasonably confident of making the journey) then I'd be happy to buy the relevant parts and be part of a poptop modifying/fitting session if that would interest anyone?

if i were you i'd put loads of pictures up before the day so we have a rough idea, i wouldn't be taking the engine out until i knew the parts you ordered are available..... gsf are fairly local i belive but it's a long shot ordering parts friday sometime for collection? saturday morning...... a few of us will arrive friday noon but rarely want to work straight away, friday is normally for the planning of what to do - or if there is a big job (like yours) then we may do som initial preperation, but usually all the parts are in hand if so.

    answers to questions
    1. ask away to anyone who looks competent - knowledge is free if you don't ask you don't get, use the event to compare yours with others - that's what i do (not in the bog though - that's baysearchers trick)
    2. pop some piccy's up.

i should also say i "usually" provide a trailer load of wood for the fire, since starting my new job the wood gathering is a lot harder than it used to be and i also now have reduced the size of my trailer, while i will still hopefully bring some wood it may be wise that others who can get some bring a bag or a few bits.

The essential tin you had missing is missing on one side - that's the naughty bit that needs TE assistance. And it's partial to the odd litre of oil (per 100 miles). We're hoping that doing the tin will reveal a bust piston ring or two but until the heads/barrels are off it's all guesswork. Engine runs smoothly. If anyone has a good set of cheap B&P's with rings sitting in the garage... A nice job for Ben if he's back from his travels...
