the thing i find strange is some people think me n others are odd come on you have a vw camper yeh ?, have you been anywhere where their are alot of people who have them before ,i think not
I believe the intention is entirely the opposite. A bunch of people contributing even silly stuff to a new poster's thread should be seen as being welcomed with open arms. Think of this place as a pub. Do you want to be brought into the happy throng or ignored. Look at the threads where new members introduce themselves, I've never known a forum like it for a warm welcome.
Good point well made @physiopro! I think of this forum as a virtual pub where you can go to enjoy a bit of banter, get some help from your mates and other regulars you havent necessarily spoken to before. Sometimes we put the world to rights and sometimes someone over-indulges a bit. Ocasionally a scrap breaks out and rarely the landlord has to ban a punter, but to most of us it's a comfortable, fun, interesting, infuriating and strangely addictive place to come. Like you, Physiopro, i'm certain my bus wont get finished without the advice and support of other TLB members, so I'm looking firward to my next pint! And the next one. And the one after that too!! And feel free to take the pi$$ out of me anytime... I'm thick-skinned and am perfectly happy ignoring people who really ought to have better things to be getting on with!
The worst time of my life was when Wales became so bad at rugby my English mates stopped ripping the proverbial! On a different note I fear we are heading in the same direction again! My point however is that when people take the proverbial at least they are showing an interest and in my honest opinion, very rarely on here is it nasty
Oh god, are people going to start apologising now? I choose to self edit, I don't see why I should expect other people to be able to read my mind, if I don't like something sometimes I'll say something sometimes not. I choose to self edit what I write too. This place is many things...for me it's a chance to learn something or have a laugh, usually the latter simply because I don't care about the difference between Dot 4 and Dot 5 or whatever and don't know that much anyway. You'll never make rules that suit everyone so don't bother or we'll spend all our time scared to post or apologising. It's easy to go past a patently stupid answer (it's usually mine) and I look at it this way, the time invested to ask is usually the same amount of time it takes to post something smart arsed in reply. We are equal investors I'd hate this place to loose the tangents and randomness....and people scared to post kills a forum dead. So either you want diverse content, with people not scared to be themselves or you don't. The price to pay is you can get all huffy and make a voodoo doll of your new enemy at times, or get over it.
