If you followed utd all through the 70'sand 80's like i did you would have been stereotyped as an hooligan. Glory glory m u...
http://hillsborough.independent.gov.uk/site-map/index.html Unfortunately some stereotypes are perpetuated and lead to injustice. The last few days listening to the radio have been really upsetting, bringing back awful memories. I'm not a liverpool fc fan. http://www.liverpoolfc.com/history/hillsborough It's easy to fall back on stereotypes, we all do, but discussions lead to change. In the absence of discussion the status quo remains. Think back (and not that long ago) the attitudes towards many people were truly awful. 40 years it was ok to use the n word on tv, that was seen as as alright. Thankfully the world moves forward; that's not being pc, it's being civil and open minded. The term pc is often used by some people and aspects of the media to actively discourage debate and change and comes from a position of fear of change and the unknown. I'm glad I'm not living in an age of legal and socially accepted racism, homophobia and misogyny. Thankfully the world is changing
Send them all to be re-educated in the correct way of thinking. Individuality is a threat to the rule of the State.
Sadly, you're right...it's the basis of most organized religions...accept the dogma without question...if you question it, you're accused of being a heretic, or worse... Then, of course, there's good old 'Faith'.....that catch all nonsense that enables others to dictate terms and co-opt people's inherent sensibility....Have 'faith' that if you put your hand in the fire it won't burn....somehow I think not. Stereotyping is, as someone pointed out, 'lazy thinking' and comes from the same stable as organized religion IMO
76 I started supporting them and I'm (a bit) embarrassed to say I quite liked the hooligan image I was only 11 tho! I've gone one better! I've got 2 cats
I can remember it all starting - it was funny at first, a few old blokes having a punch up - Then chelsea away 73/74 ish - then the end of the season city game before King Dennis buried us with a back heel and a season in the 2nd .. now that was a manic season!
In the 90s the typical hard core football hooligan who organised the fights was mid 25 - 35, employed and educated, not the late teenager waiting for his balls to drop. I was surprised just how much organisation went into these mass fights.
